Good work!

You woulda been a good contestant on "The Biggest Loser". If you don't watch that TV show you should... it's inspirational for many overweight people.

I've recently started my fitness routine again with the goal of looking good by the summer time. I am riding the lifecycle 30 minutes every other day right now and lifting weights on the alternate days. Also cutting back on the  () and eating smarter/healthier.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Congratulations. I've lost about 20 pounds mainly with exercise but then I started a job with four 12 hour days then four days off. It's been hard to keep up the exercise but shortly I'll have much more time to get back in the gym. I gained all the weight back which is a real downer but I can't say I was surprised at all.

I'm with everyone on recommending the exercising and weight lifting in particular (take a class -- it really is fun which surprised me) but I think you made the right decision. I wish you luck in making the change and keeping it. When you're at a comfortable weight definately look at how you can be more active. I've seen both sides of that over the last 2 years and I made a bad choice.

Yeah man, I am, I swim 3 x a week for like 1/2 and hour, and I lift with a trainer 2x a week for an hour... The doctor actually told me to take it easy and not work out quite so hard (because I get extremely tired as I have been getting to sleep at 3, up at 8, and not eating also. (sleep due to crazy work schedual last week))

But thanks a ton for the support, congrats on the 20lbs and thanks again to everyone here showing support!

You might consider adding green tea extract to your current diet. I got a whole year supply from GNC. haha Good job man!

Nice job on your progress, but is this type of diet healthy and sustainable? Most of the literature I've read states that healthy sustainable weight loss should be no more than 2 pounds per week.

I've also read that healthy sustainable weight loss should be no more than 2 pounds per week, but I also remember reading before that it can be more for people who are significantly overweight. but 10 lbs a week, i'm not sure. 410 is a lot (no offense) so maybe 10lbs a week isn't that bad?

I remember when I was losing weight, and when I tell girls my stats, they say "i hate it that you can lose more weight than me" so I tell them. "gain 100 pounds and see if you can lose weight just as fast, i bet you can." haha.

They way I look at it is is a % of your body weight that is safe to loose if I lost 2 lbs a day it would be diff if i lost 10lbs a day. Every one is diff and every one has different body shapes/sizes.

Good job keep it up.

the key to lossing weight is simple. less food, more exercise. when was the last time you saw a fat marine graduating boot camp? When i graduated Air Force basic i had lost 3 inches in my waist but gained 8 pounds.

I was 5'9" 135 going in to Army basic and 157 on grad day. But back on topic (even though we are in the off topic forum hehe) Great job man!!! I can't say if I was in your position I would be able to do the same thing. Congrats and PLEASE keep us updated.

I wish you continued success on your efforts to drop the weight. A friend of my had the surgery but kept on eating the chocolates, extra cheese, etc. The result, no weight loss, just a $15k surgery bill.
