Looks like I will be buying Dragon Age this weekend.

Any idea why DAO Standard bundle and the DAO Deluxe Bundle are the same price?

Can you attach this to your steam account? permanently that is.

I would like to know this myself. I purchased the steam version of DAO. Can I buy Awakening and attached it to the steam version of DAO?

Thanks in advance.

How does EAstore work? Can I buy it now, and download it in a month?

I am asking because I don't want the game until I buy my new computer, and after my parents borrowed money from me, I won't buy a com[puter until they pay me back.

The deluxe bundle just adds downloadable content, which I'm guessing is free. It shows up as $0 in my cart.

So, if I were to buy Dragon Age™: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition & Dragon Age™: Origins - Awakening bundle $35.94, then I'd be getting all the content that's currently available for Dragon Age: Origins?

Since Dragon Age 2 is coming out next year, is it safe to assume that there won't be another expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins?

The DLC is NOT free, you would have to pay for it otherwise.. like $5 per each!!! So the deluxe Ed. is a great deal. Only problem is, they just recently released yet even more DLC and some of it might not be included. Check to make sure.

It is not safe to assume there wont be other expansions or dlc for Dragonage until the 2nd incarnation comes... These guys have been pumping out DLC like crazy, milking the franchise, so they may very well release more.

Despite the fact that this is indeed a hell of a deal, I am definitely not spending $35 on games I cannot resell later. I'll wait till these are $10 each or so which will happen without a doubt in another 2-6 months, which is fine given how many other games I have on my Steam account.

Good deal. I was hoping they'd be running something similar for the console versions too... but no dice

Thanks for the help. I'd like to get this game, but I'll wait until I can get absolutely all of the content in one purchase. Resale would be nice too. I have enough games to keep me busy for now, so I don't really need this.

Hmm Digitalriver is the company EA contracted their digital distribution out to. Doesn't Microsoft use them too?

edit: nvm...found out the digital deluxe is the original game and the Awaking is the expansion.

Just an FYI the Awaking doesn't require the original game...interesting expansion.

Is the game play/graphics/etc the same between the original and the new expansion or have things been improved like Baldurs Gate 1 vs 2 was.

Hmm, I think so. Does the EAStore just let you download an ISO of the retail game's DVD and they email you the license key?

If you don't want to mess with EA, gamer's gate is also having a sale of their own.

I am not familiar with Gamer's Gate, how restrictive is their DRM?

where did you hear this?

everything i've read said the expansion needed to detect the original game and it has to be on the same platform.... ie both on steam or retail or gamer's gate.

No you have to install a download manager to download the game.

Basically it downloads an extracted .iso. All the files you'd normally find on a DVD are in the folder.

I'm kind of annoyed that they didn't make that more clear from the start. Oh well I just uninstalled the download manager anyway once it finished.

Thanks for the info, can you simply dump the files to a DvD to back it up, since they only allow you to download it for a year or will the DRM allow you to do that?

My bad I must have been reading about a console version. I don't game too much, didn't know this was also on consoles.

Yes it looks like you can just dump them to a DVD or keep them on your hard drive and access the files directly.

You're given a product key, so I assume that's how the DRM is handled.

The site doesn't mention the one year limitation anymore though.

So once I download the game, can I save the downloaded file and use that to install in the future?

Can I do this without that stupid EA download manager?

The download manager is annoying just because you have to install it. Once you do, you can download it (it creates a folder for each game, an extracted ISO like mentioned above). Keep in mind, if you uninstall the manager to removes those files in the uninstall process (makes sense, it's removing the dir it created which is where the download files reside). You do not need any of the files once you are done installed though... so it shouldn't be a big deal really...

on another note, you cannot attach this game to your steam account

with all that said... in for Dragon Age™: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition & Dragon Age™: Origins - Awakening bundle $35.94.I've wanted this game for sometime now and was kicking myself in the ass not getting in on the steam sale. I can't wait to play it

Can you save the downloaded file in the cache/username folder and then do a clean install of the OS and use that downloaded file to install the game?

BTW, I remember the Steam sale, but this EA sale is cheaper. The Steam sale had the original going for only 33. With this sale we get that and the expansion. Not too shabby.

Yes. It's not like steam that downloads those compressed files, it's literally an extracted .iso. There's a setup executable and everything. You're given a registration key too that's basically the same as if you bought it in a retail store.

Just cut/copy the files somewhere else so you can uninstall the download manager without deleting what you downloaded.
