Weather forecast claims that there is going to be a night with -13 °C (9 °F) ........ after this race is over. :-|

This low didn't happen. Weather forecasting is still a lot of poking in the dark.

However, they are now forecasting a whole week of highs at several degrees below freezing point, and lows in the double digit range below. And the weather which we had this weekend indicates that there may be a little more truth in the forecast this time. :-D

I already switched on some more Xeons today, hoping that it really gets this cold.

Yeah, strange enough. Have you already pulled the plug on the second rig? My main rig is down 1T as I had discovered that my GPU runs slightly faster in F@H with 2T available for it (thanks to your discussion with Markfw during the folding race). It had warmed up a little, so yes I'd shut it off more, but this week it's barely getting over freezing so it's been back on more (and it's barely enough to keep my lounge warm, I had to fire up the central heating for an extra hr or 2 the past couple of days).

I guess our Rosetta 'race' is going to be a long haul

Regarding heating: Yesterday, I started feeling a little cold in my office room. Well, it was (and is) pretty cold here too right now, so I didn't think much of it. When I came back from lunch, I realized that my main rig had shut down 3h ago... No wonder it felt colder than usual 🤣

It really has gotten as cold here as forecast. Cold outside, that is. I am almost disappointed how little heating my apartment needs, even though this house is nearly 100 years old. -15 °C/ 5 °F outside, 28 °C/ 83 °F in the living room. I do have too many computers, but it is hard to use fewer of them.

We have snow since the weekend (more than in most years), which means it takes me longer to get to and from work, and therefore I set my boinc work buffers larger than normal now as a safeguard against idle times if internet goes down while I am away.

Its going to snow here day after tomorrow, and its not warm now.(40f) at almost noon. I have all the windows in the house closed up, and its a nice 75f inside. I do have 7 video cards turned off, but I have 1000 cores, and 6 2080TIs still running.
