i'm curious to know what kind of PPD (in Milkyway) a dual HD 4770 setup churns out...

I'll take a look when I get home! I've been getting these from retek on ebay for $56 shipped. The only logos I see are ATI logos so I assume these were made for OEMs

Is it possible to add boincsimap to it as well? I had 0 work for what seemed to be forever, but I have gotten some credits very recently.

SIMAP issues work units at the beginning of each month. The work is done in about a week.

So, weekly stats will only show interesting stuff once a month.

I could start up the SIMAP daily updates again. Starting with February.
Well, let me know if you want it included with the weeklies. No point in adding it if some ones going to do dailies.

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to Free-DC stats?

I have been going through serious withdrawal effects the last few days. I find that I had been using Free-DC exclusively for my stats fix.

And now my other fix won't be here either as Spacehead uses Free-DC too

I guess I will have to learn to get my fix from another site. Which one do you recommend? Help, please!

i use BOINCstats. from what i gather, most people like Free-DC better, but BOINCstats works for me...plus i've used it from day one, so i'm used to it.

Yeah, Free-DC hasn't been working for me either. I've been hitting Boincstats in the interim.

Lol, only just in there, I'll have to check out what's going on there!
Grrr, someone's stopped my dads PC crunching!

Btw, has M@W now fixed the lag issues they introduced with an update they did ....... err many(?) months ago?
I used to run it on my HD4830 until they did 'that' update which caused huge GUI lag, I couldn't hack it so I had to quit (can't remember when now). I'm hoping it's fixed now.......

welcome back! long time no see...

actually the update came just a few weeks ago. go to your MW@H web preferences, and you'll notice a new field called "Frequency (in Hz, or fps)." the default value is 30. if you have significant GUI lag with the default value of 30, try progressively higher values until the lag goes away (or at least minimizes). the trade off is that tasks will run a bit slower. on the other hand, if you find that the default value of 30 leaves you with no GUI lag, you have the option of testing progressively lower values until you start experiencing GUI lag again. lower than default values have the effect of reducing run times at the expense of increased GUI lag.

while i've played around a bit with the new parameter, i haven't really noticed any effects on GPU task run times or GUI lag...then again maybe that's b/c i do nothing but crunch on my HD 5870, and don't use it to simultaneously run the display (i leave that to my motherboard's integrated HD 4290 GPU).

Re MW, wow took 'em a while to intro that fix then!, might have to try it out . Just looked at my account & last contact was May last year!
be wary though...not long after they implemented the frequency/Hz/fps parameter to help w/ GUI lag, they released the new Separation application v1.02, which is OpenCL based instead of CAL based like the old v0.82 app. i have yet to get the new v1.02 tasks running without errors, so i'm running the soon-to-be deprecated v0.82 application in the mean time until i can find some time to troubleshoot the v1.02 app. you may want to browse the MW@H message boards to catch up and the latest and greatest...

Hmm, and so far all I'm getting is '22/02/2012 19:24:38 | Milkyway@home | Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found'.......

Any idea what that's likely to be about?

BOINC FAQ is rather vague:-

404: return "HTTP file not found";

The 404 or Not Found error message is an HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server, but the server either could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and not reveal the reason why.

i've encountered this error many time before w/ MW@H...try resetting the project. sometimes it'll take a while for the client to find the http on the project server and download it. if the http file doesn't download within an hour of resetting the project, or if you grow impatient long before an hour passes, detach from the project and reattach...that has always worked for me, and it typically finds the http file right away. once that happens, the rest of the necessary files should follow, and you should soon be crunching.

given the update to Separation v1.02, your tasks might error out immediately. if they do, you'll probably need to update both your Catalyst driver version AND your BOINC client version. if you do get errors, there are specific video driver and BOINC versions that you should try first...so report back if you have any more problems...

Cheers for that , already have the lastest BOINC version, drivers are probably ancient . I'll try detach-reattach project in a sec 1st.

And yep after de/reattach it says my driver is not ok for openCL, lol.

could you cut-n-paste the startup section of your BOINC manager's event log please? i'd like to have a look at it - it might tell me whether or not your BOINC client's OpenCL detection is broken. also, is the HD 4830 the only GPU, integrated or discrete, in the box that you crunch MW@H with?

i don't see any signs of broken OpenCL detection in your BOINC client...i know your startup event log doesn't mention anything about OpenCL, but i believe that's normal - it would probably only mention something about OpenCL in the startup event log if there were actually a problem detecting an OpenCL device. if you scroll a bit more than half-way down THIS thread, you'll see that i posted my BOINC client's startup event log a few days ago when i was having problems and getting errors w/ the new Separation v1.02 app. notice that its detecting GPU 0 (my HD 4290 IGP) as an OpenCL device, even though its not OpenCL capable...and due to the enumeration mismatches between BOINC and the MW@H application itself, BOINC is also thinks it has to disable GPU 1 (the HD 5870) b/c despite it being the 2nd GPU behind the IGP (GPU 0), it is the first OpenCL capable GPU in the system. this might not make a whole lot of sense to you, and that's ok b/c you're problem is different than the one i had. i'm just using it as an example of what you'd possibly see in the BOINC startup event log re: OpenCL if the detection was somehow broken.

that being said, i probably won't have more time to do anymore research on it until this evening. in the mean time, read THIS thread thoroughly...i know that by now its an extremely long and boring thread, but there very well may be advice there that could help you solve your problem.

I haven't got time to read through all that, but I have read the beginning of the thread & some people suggested that BOINC 6 might be the problem. So I've d/l & installed 7.0.18, it hasn't worked yet but interestingly it's coming up with a new messege in the 'Tasks' tab. Whereas before it was just saying 'computation error' it now says 'GPU missing, computation error'.
Log shows :-
25/02/2012 10:26:49 | | No usable GPUs found
25/02/2012 10:26:49 | Milkyway@Home | Application uses missing ATI GPU
25/02/2012 10:26:49 | Milkyway@Home | Missing coprocessor for task ps_separation_82_2s_mix3_3_6301347_0

Don't understand why it can't find my HD 4830!
Gonna try detaching - didn't work.

Back to v 6.12.34 & GPU is detected fine.
Can't get work now.

i don't want you to think i forgot about you...i got tied up over the weekend and didn't have much time to look into it...

at any rate, i'm not sure about HD 4xxx GPUs, but my HD 5870 crunches v1.02 tasks just fine using BOINC v6.12.34 and Catalyst 12.1....of course i had to force it to be GPU 0 by disabling the IGP in the BIOS, but it worked. now in that very long thread that i referenced on the MW@H forums, someone mentions that v1.02 is working just fine for him using BOINC v6.12.34 as well, and a knowledgeable and respected individual responded by saying that its b/c he's using an app_info.xml file which doesn't bother with the OpenCL check. i don't know if that will solve your problem, but its worth a try. are you familiar w/ using an app_info.xml file? it'll more or less force the v1.02 application to run on your one and only detected GPU, the HD 4830.

if that doesn't do it, the only thing i can think of is that the HD 4830 does not support OpenCL...but i have a hard time believing that that might be the case, b/c AMD's official developer site shows the HD 4830 as being OpenCL capable...

*EDIT* - i just saw that you posted in a thread on the MW@H forums, and that Matt noticed that the OpenCL.dll file is missing from your Catalyst driver installation...how he figured that out, i have no idea. but i would definitely try his advice before you try mine - he's an incredibly knowledgeable MW@H developer and tester who knows far more than i. i have no idea how the OpenCL.dll file didn't get installed when you updated your drivers to 12.1 unless you did a custom install and went out of your way to not install the APP SDK option. but the APP SDK contains the OpenCL.dll file that you need to run the new v1.02 application. get that fixed and report back...

Oh, I've had my fun with the OpenCL.dll.

What I've found is that I need to run the MSI file from the support directory (C:\ATI\Support\*drivers*\Packages\Apps\OpenCL64) and that instantly clears up that issue. I don't know what the darn trigger is to get that to really install right when you initially deploy the catalyst package, but I do know that it is freaking annoying.

I've tried custom installs with all the boxes checked, DL'ing the app sdk, etc. In the end, just running that msi package cleared it up.

Err, lol, that's exactly what I did!, I thought 'wth do I need a developer kit for?' & my C drv is low on space, hence I didn't install it.

Didn't know my MW thread had been replied to, seems the email sub isn't working .
Will check it out now.

Oh btw, thx Sunny , & no worries on delay, wasn't expecting immediate answers .
