I've tried drink water whenever I feel hungry.
I have a gallon jug next to my computer.
doesnt work. I still feel hungry and I got to pee more.

I tried continuely stuffing my face w/fruits, specifically blue berries.
supermarket had buy one get one free. bought several pints.

whenever I'm hungry, I go downstairs, wash a handful, put it on a small plate, walk back to my computer, and eat one at a time very slowly.

that worked but I'm out of blue berries. and when not on sale, it's expensive.

there has to be a better way?

duh.. if I had discipline, I wouldn't be trying to lose weight in the 1st place

Its a mindset. Your mind is stronger than your body. If you can't control it remove yourself from the food entirely. Give yourself limited access. Like a smoker. You can't smoke if you have no cigs

You dont have to go hungry to lose weight. Try cheese cubes or nuts maybe. Also, drinking too much water = electrolyte loss.

I don't think that water will ever make you feel not hungry, satisfied, or full. Though, I have heard someone say that sometimes when you think you are hungry, you aren't. You're just thirsty. I guess in a situation like that water would help.

I've read to drink skim milk instead of water. It has some protein to make you feel a bit satisfied and is low in fat and calories. Not as low as water, but you get the idea...

Personally, I've adapted a mindset that when I hear my stomach growling, it is shrinking. Certainly, since I've started eating much less, I do feel full sooner. So, it's an easy correlation to make.

I buy tons of celery. It's inexpensive, has low calories, and I hate eating it. So, I use that to snack on whenever I can. After a while, eating nothing seems like a perfectly viable option over eating any more celery!

I also like plain yogurt (with a few blueberries thrown in (try for one or two per spoonful)) and low fat cottage cheese. You can mix some chopped red onion and parsley to spice it up a bit. A lot of times I mix in about 1/3 of nonfat 'pineapple' cottage cheese into 2/3 of low fat cottage cheese. In the beginning, I needed more pineapple. Then I got to the 50/50 point. Now I'm at about 1/3 flavored, 2/3's plain.

Egg whites. I buy eggs already hard boiled and ready to eat. I then eat only the whites and give the yolks to my dog if I'm at home. She loves them, her coat looks fantastic, and of course: She loves me even more than she did before!

If you think buying good food is expensive, wait until you have to buy all new clothes after you lose a bunch of weight. And then, do that again and again. And let's not start on getting stuff tailored!

Like Zivic implied, you need to ignore what your body says, keep your mind in control, and keeping things positive!

I hope these suggestions help you and good luck!

This. Fight through hunger. Your body will get the hint and spot producing so many hunger inducing hormones. Eventually, you will get used to it, and it won't be an issue.

Also, if you are extremely hungry, odds are you're cutting too many calories too quickly. However, just give yourself a chance, don't give in.

I've found fasting works very well. Even though you may be hungry while you fast, you do actually get used to it. During the 8 hours per day I do eat, I'm not hungry for a single second, and I get the mental satisfaction of gorging on food, even though I am not over eating.

Hot water / tea is good. It helps expand the stomach and make you feel less hungry. Just make sure you aren't adding any sugar or sweetener of any kind to the tea.

Two of the most calorie dense foods in existence are probably not the things you want to be eating on a diet.

JEDI, go out and exercise. It'll not only distract you but let you eat a little more while maintaining the same weight loss plan. Also I hope you're tracking your calories and not just winging it, you might still be eating too much or even too little.

Metamucil

Chin got about the closest of anyone. Fiber will make you feel fuller, longer. Celery is a great choice (find some almond or cashew butter, if possible, to put in it.....peanut butter's not as great a choice, but is still better than a lot of other things).

Those blueberries, in the quantities you're speaking of, really aren't doing you any favors. While they're a good food to have on your diet, too much of a good thing isn't necessarily good anymore. Lots of natural sugar in fruit, so don't go overboard with it.

Oatmeal is another decent choice, for fiber.

I like to down a lot of watermelon, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, chew a lot of gum, drink a lot of water and I tend to eat most of my calories later in the day so I feel really full until bed time.

That said, I am being really bad these days eating a ton of cereal and milk, but the strength I've gained makes me feel better about gaining a good bit of weight.

Go for something that ISN'T a fruit. Those blue berries may not have that much sugar, but I think its going to trigger more eating.

I'd go for Jicama sticks or some other veggie that is net zero calories. Or suck it up a couple weeks. It IS a mind set not to give in. If you can make it a couple of weeks it gets MUCH easier.

Hunger is the body requesting calories. Feeding it water/fiber does not satisfy the caloric need. It barely postpones the feeling of hunger by tens of minutes. Fat+Protein is the best combo for satiety/calorie.

Jicama -- that looks really good.

Jicama is pretty good, it's crunchy but has a very very light sugary taste like an apple (like hardly sweet at all, but a tad sweet enough to notice). Throw some Tajin on it and you're good to go: (lime/chili seasoning)

Great in stir-fries & also makes a great rice alternative (chop it into chunks & throw it in a food process to rice it).

Jicama rice sounds interesting. I do mostly cauliflower rice right now but will definitely need to look at jicama for variety.

Generally true, but many peoples bodies are inefficient, and WANT more calories than they NEED. Then there is the fact he wants to lose weight in which case he must provide the body LESS calories than it NEEDS to maintain its self.

A lot of hunger especially at the start of something like this is mostly an emotional attachment to food and a habit. It takes 21 days to break a habit, the emotions might take even more time to go away, but stuffing your face with Jicima or another net negative food can help with some of the habits until you can fully be weened off compulsive eating.

Sleep more; I saw something recently that said when you're chronically tired your brain starts scrambling the feelings of sleepiness with the feelings of hunger.. Drink and eat stuff that will tend to suppress appetite. I gingery stuff seems to work well for me and tea, but I don't have a ton of problems with appetite right now. Try to keep in mind that hunger is a transient feeling if you can shift your focus to something else it might go away too.
