i'm a relatively active person. i've lost 50 pounds through Dance Dance Revolution. i swim 2-3 times a week, i run 1-2 times a week and i eat right.

i'm not looking to gain muscle anymore, i just wanna burn fat and turn my body into a calorie burning machine.

do products like Stacker 2/3, Hydroxycut, etc. work for the money you pay?

i'm sure i would get results using them, but do they mess up your body's natural rhythms or something?

am i just better off doing it the old-fashioned way?

If you already lost 50 pounds doing what you're doing, why do you want use supplements? Seems like you're already doing well.

Otherwise, go look into an ephedrine/caffeine stack.

There is no such thing as a supplement that will "turn your body into a fat burning machine", nor is there anything that will "speed up your metabolism" etc etc. All baseless marketing claims. There are supplements that can help you build more muscle by speeding up your recovery time and by speeding up muscle development (for example andro), but the best way is to simply keep doing what you're doing. Stay active, keep eating right. Done......

Of course, for the cast majority of us (myself included), eating right and exersizing enough is easier said than done. Ok, enough typing, there's a pint of ben & jerry's calling my name

The majority of "metabolism increasing powders/pills/etc." are amphetamines which speed up your heartrate, leading to caloric loss.

The best way to burn off more calories in general is to gain more muscle. More muscle = more calories consumed. Aside from that, what can you do? Watch what you eat and reduce intake of empty carbohydrates and negative-caloric foods (i.e. Iceberg lettuce, celery, white breads/pastas, etc.)

Sure there are, the most extreme being 2,4-dinitrophenol, a nonselective uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation. Boosts your metabolism enormously, though it has side effects like bad breath and body odor, general malaise, and (occasionally) death. Next in line would be combining a beta-2 adrenergic agonist (like ephedrine) with your favorite phosphodiesterase inhibitor (e.g., caffeine), which doesn't have all those odor and death problems.

The ones you buy on the store shelves are all far less effective than these and far more expensive. The "active ingredients" are often ones that, under the appropriate experimental protocol, do have a significant effect, but if taken in the manner and dosage found in commercially available products, they have no significant effect on your metabolism.

Don't use crap pills man. Nothing beats losing weight naturally.

You shouldn't stop weight training. The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism will be, and the more calories you'll burn when not training.

Also, don't forget cardio. Swimming isn't necessarily cardio, it's more along the lines of interval training. Make sure you run/bike etc 3 or 4 times a week, at least 30 minutes at a time.

You're on the right track
