Yes if you work it hard enough for long enough. Do 5 miles on it in 40-45 minutes at a 8 setting and you'll burn about 800 calories. Do that 4 times a week while watching your calorie intake and you'll easily burn off 1 lbs a week or more.Is the elliptical machine enough?
How did you put on at least 8 pounds a month? WoW + a constant diet of Monster Thickburgers?
Can you eat eggs or drink milk? Eggs have a lot of "good quality" protein (so I've heard). I'm Indian too I'm not a vegeterian, however, but I do know that Indian food isn't exactly the healthiest; just too many refined carbohydrates and not enough protein. Soy is also very good if you can't eat eggs, but I have heard soy protein isn't the best.

Since I am a vegetarian ( by religion ), how could I supplement complete proteins?
So let me get this straight if you walk 45 minutes daily and burn 300 calories you'll lose more weight than if you use the Eliptical or run 45 minutes daily and burn 800 Calories?Originally posted by: eits
diet and walking = power combo for losing weight.
you lose more weight walking than you do running or doing eliptical. the reason is because you burn different kinds of calories and fats.

Well from personal experience I had the opposite results.

Red Dawn you have it right. That walking thing, about it being in your better fat burning zone , is a myth and something that companies used for marketing. Low intensity cardio might be right for old people or those with health problems, but high intensity cardio is still better for losing weight. Most recent studies (they are about 6 months old) have all indicated it is still about total calories burned, and not that "fat burning zone" crap.

whoa, really? i think he should do that gradually, have his body get used to the reduced calories.
That is a really, seriously, ignorant thing to say.Originally posted by: Sureshot324

Everything else people tell you is over-analyzing the problem.
