OK all -
I just got my Baybus from Cliff Anderson - dual voltage (7v/off/12v), single-LED. I started rewiring my case, connecting 18-gauge wires all around and connecting them to my baybus. I am connecting 3 fans as of now with a 4th going on later (sharing a terminal) - a Delta 120mm, a generic 80mm, and a Sunon 120mm part number KD1212PMB1.
All fans work on the full 12v lead. The 80mm and the Delta 120mm work on the 7v lead - however, the Sunon not only doesn't work but I think causes a short in the system, and let me explain why. I test my fans on an old AT power supply since I can use a DPST switch to turn them on - in other words, I don't need a damn motherboard present to test fans. When I use the Baybus to turn the Sunon to a 7v connection, the AT power supply shuts off and the other fans stop. Turning the power supply off and then back on corrects everything, until I put the Sunon on 7v in which case it shuts down again.
I am going to e-mail 2cool (vendor of the fan) to see if he knows anything but in the meantime I thought I'd post here since someone is bound to have used this fan before on a 7v lead. I consulted Sunon's site (http://www.sunon.com.tw/fan/dc12038/kd1212pmb1-6a.htm) and it yields nothing useful. I will contact Cliff himself but the Baybus itself seems to work just fine, since no matter what terminator I put the fan on, the same result happens.
Anyone got a clue?
