I keep my rv plugged in all the time, it keeps the batterys charged. They might have an electric heater in there. If they did not winterize it, and the temprature dropped below freezing the pipes in the rv would break, and that would be a royal PITA.

My vote goes to minding your own business, but they are probably growing weed or cooking up meth. Both of which are pretty differet things, I wouldn't care about someone growing some crops beside my house but I wouldn't perticularily like a methlab right next door.
Do the lights stay on all night?

We are using the RV to house our time travel device. It needs to be powered 24x7 because the portal we opened is not stable and if it collapses, it would create a miniature black hole which would cause the entire planet to implode.

We regret this minor oversight (we believed we could create a stable tunnel) and appreciate your concern.

I'd definately report something suspicious to the authorities. That is definately not normal behavior. If anything call the cops at night and say loud noises are coming from the vehicle and it's not letting youand the rest of your family fall asleep. Since you said you live in a very nice neighborhood do everything you can to keep it that way.

Does the light comming from the windows look like normal household light as far as intensity and color temperature go?

I'm kinda betting on a meth lab, because if they were growing cannabis, they wouldn't let any light through the windows.

I have a friend who is a cop that lives in my neighborhood. I'm going to call him.

I heard that you could smell sulfur if it was an meth lab. I haven't smelled anything, but it might be too far away for me to smell anything.

I don't think the RV has water hooked up to it, but they do have a garden hose in the truck next to the RV.

There are white curtains in the RV. Yes, the light is on at night. There are also flood lights on the RV at night.

My first instinct was meth.

Actually, after reading this thread a 2nd time, I'm changing my opinion. It seems like maybe they are renovating the RV. Maybe, they are going to hit the road for 3 months next summer - and want the interior to be in good shape.

Watch it again if you haven't seen it recently. I enjoyed the movie a lot and it has a lot of memorable characters. Crazy army guy is one of em and it has one of the Coreys! LoL!

Meth is not a joke and can be very dangerous as some of my fellow Anandtechers have stated.

I guess they might not have winterized it, but why do they need power today? Its 70 degrees outside. Although, it is suppose to get cold by the end of the week.

Why are the lights on at night? Why is their a flood light? Most people keep their valuables in their home not in their RV that is parked outside.

I don't want to say something to the cops and then be wrong and my neighbors hate me. Is there a way to be anonymous?

Yes, you can make a report without giving your name. First thing I thought of was meth or growing weed, but I don't think you need constant power source for meth. For weed you need constant grow lights at times of course. I'd err to caution and just roll a grenade under it. If there is a really big explosion you will know for sure.

call your local radio station and ask them if you can report crime anonymousely, in los angeles you can knx1070 radio and give a tip anonymousely

why would you care about them hating you? at the very least they are costing you appraisal value of your home. not exactly a friendly way to be neighbors so they probably hate you anyway.

If you truly want to be anonymous call from a payphone. I've called from my own phone to report anonymously but of course they know who you are if they really need to get in contact with you but I've never had a cop knock on my door after I reported something anonymously. Done it 2 or 3 times before.

I'm sure you would've asked something about that RV if the owners didn't look shady but I bet they do and thats why you haven't. Also are you the only one that can see the RV or know about it for that matter or can other neighbors around you see the RV and when the lights are on it?

The flood light is on the back of the RV and it is on now. The lights inside the RV are off right now, but will come on later. The front hatch (I guess its like a closing [shade] for a window) is propped open.

The lights being on inside all the time isn't really an indicator of doing something wrong, I'd say almost the opposite, actually.

If they were growing pot, the windows wouldn't be lit because they would be covered with black plastic.

Unless they're stupid I guess. But you can without a doubt tell the difference between household lights and a grow light.

I can't think of any reason why having lights on would inferr a meth lab, but who knows..
