Weird Neighbor and Weird Things They are Doing! - Updated See First Post

The cord is black against a light colored house. You could see it from two houses down!

I figured that since the lights weren't on now, but would be later, that they've just got an automatic timer to make neighborhood kids think they're inside, and to keep kids from breaking in and using it as a hangout. Lights more for security against crime, rather than to help them with crime.

I've considered that, however I've also dismissed it over time. Why waste the power, it's backed up against the house anyway??? Also why power the camper with a generator during the recent ice storm in anticipation of the power going off???

We also believe they have criminal records as well. It's not 100%, as we don't have the resources at our disposal to confirm their idenities that the police would have. However you can find out quite a bit about someone online.

If it were you would smell it.

Depends where the get rid of the residue. If they dumped it down the sewer or drawn when it rained there'd be an unmistakable odor of Junipers. If you think they are cooking Meth act soon because that is dangerous stuff,especially it being so close to the building you occupy.

Call the cops anonymously, tell them it's suspicious and be done with it. Personally, you sound a bit paranoid to me, but if you are really concerned then report it.

I really have no idea. I just thought it was weird and it does bring down the value of my home. My friend that lives in my neighborhood just put her house on the market today. I would hate for a buyer to say "no" because of the way the camper is set-up. Its looks red-neck-ish!

This thread reminds me of a story about a guy whose neighbor had a Ryder truck parked in their driveway. Normally that wouldn't be suspicious in itself but the guy noticed that there was a extension cord running from the house to the truck. Something inside was being run 24/7. He calls the police to report his neighbors suspicious activity. The police comes and check out the truck. It turns out that the cord was used to power a freezer inside the truck. And the freezer contained the corpse of a girl the neighbor murdered. Freaky.

I'd definately report something suspicious to the authorities. That is definately not normal behavior. If anything call the cops at night and say loud noises are coming from the vehicle and it's not letting youand the rest of your family fall asleep. Since you said you live in a very nice neighborhood do everything you can to keep it that way.

Anyway, FettsbBabe regardless of how paranoid or overreactive some are making you out to be you have every right to protect your family if need be and see if your intiution that all is not right is correct. Besides, it's not like this doesn't happen more and more frequently in the US now. Homes in quiet, unremarkable neighborhoods end up being meth labs. Who is to say you aren't living next to one just like the others who thought "that couldn't happen to me." Well yeah, it happens to somebody so why not you. Keep checkin' things out

Sounds to me like you are one nosey neighbor. Knock on their door and tell them the lights in their trailer, coupled with the flood, is bothering you at night. Tell them it looks kinda suspicious, and you justed wanted to let them know. I bet if it is something illegal, it will be gone in no time.

If it's suspicous to you, it's suspicious to any trained cop driving by right? They'll never know it was you. Get my drift.

As to smelling it, that's flat out wrong. I've seen meth labs in the trunks of cars, in hotel room bathrooms, in personal coolers, etc. and never smelled a thing. Hell, I've been in apartments where the smell was rampant in the house, but not from the front door and no one adjacent to them ever knew a thing.

Report it to your cop friend, let him take a look at it and be done with it. It's too dangerous a threat not to do it. Hell, it should be easy enough for someone to look through their trash and look for tell tale materials for meth (matches, sudafed or generics, rat poison bottles, etc.) I'm not saying for you to go look, but if your local PD is suspicious and they put their trash out on the curb, then trash is free game for picking through. If they have the remnants of the materials to make it, that's half their case right there!

Well, a few things.

1) Definitely sounds shady. Might be 100% innocent, but better safe than sorry.

2) I WOULDN'T say anything (at all) to the neighbors. Just keep your mouth shut around them.

3) Call the cops, explain the situation to them. Just tell them that a guy that lives down the street is doing these x wierd things and you suspect he's growing pot or doing SOMETHING in that camper and be explicit with the reasons. Just ask them if they'd mind checking it out (and don't be afraid to play the "I have kids" card) as an anonymous tip.

4) If the cops are no good, get your cop buddy to do the same thing.

IF it is all 100% legit and you never mentioned it to the neighbors, then it's no big deal, the cops come knocking and everyone gets a good laugh out of it. If you start nosing around their yard ahead of time and then mysteriously 2 days later the cops show up - bad move, they'll hate you for life - and if they ARE up to no good, well, they might decide revenge is in order.



If they are doing something shady then going to the cops is the best thing to do, sounds like really bizarro behavior and potentially dangerous at the very least because if they ARE doing something illegal in there and they are THAT stupid to make it so obvious, you don't want them living next to you anyway.

So, my vote is call the cops. Personally I'd suspect they have their own little weed farm in there, but as others pointed out, grow lights are awfully bright and you'd probably notice. Who knows, maybe it's some long lost relative of theirs that is staying inside. But maybe not.

Whatever you do, update the thread when you find out!
