Weird sleeping experiences...

A friend of mine has been telling me that lately he's been having these random experiences where he will be laying in bed after being asleep for a while and then wake up hearing a low tone that gets louder and louder until he can't take it. And then once he moves the noise will go away. But, before that all occurs, he will experience something where he feels he can't move and is stuck into his bed. And then, all of a sudden, its like hurricane katrina comes up into his bed sheets. He felt like he was thrown into his wall while the heavy winds kick in.

Has anyone else ever experienced this before? Does anyone have any idea what it could all be about?

I used to have that quite often, not the sound though. (the only time with the sound, it was a "supernatural" experience). Now when I sleep, I turn on a small lamp in my room, and the so called "Sleep paralysis" has not occured to me again.

hehe this happens to me about once a month...well, not exactly to that extent but similar. I love my sleep paralysis episodes. At first I was terrified of them, but now, I anxiously look forward to them. I've learned to accept them as pleasureful experiences... very trippy and interesting experience. Not sure how to describe it. Since I can't directly experience it while i'm fully awake, it's refreshing to experience it once in awhile since it's soo...exotic?

Sleep paralysis + night terror but usually people have one or the other at time.

it actually quite common and have a history to it (wiki it, there a whole list of ancient reasoning for, usually dealing with the supernatural) it happens to me. just get educated on it and it wont freak him out anymore.

my logic is that this is an evolutionary thing that happens to keep us safe at night, so we wont be walking around falling off tree/cliffs.

theres alsort of crazy sleep problems lol

on tv last night was a woman that just conks out any time she laughs. literally the second she breaks out in laughter at a joke, shes on the deck fast asleep

then there is this other guy who was just down right scary. once he's asleep he gets up and heads straight for the nearest window, opens it and jumps out. (well tries too, people keep them locked and the keys hidden) but they had him in the ward and filmed him with night vision. he gets straight up, then wrestles with the locked window for a while before trying other windows and eventually going back to "sleep".

i hate those wierd dreams where you trip or fall and you spaz out in your bed in reaction to it. lol its funnay

The best I have is tripping on something while in bed. It cracks me up when I realize what happened! It's funny that you can trip on something in a dream.

Time for a CT scan? The tone sounds like it could be nerve related. The paralysis as well. Sure other people have had these symptoms, but your buddy needs to go see a Dr.

It's very strange to brace for impact, wake up, and realize you're laying on a cushy bed. Sometimes I have phantom pain when I wake up like that, from where it should hurt.

Sounds like either demonic posession or a brain tumor. Tell your "friend" to try this. If it doesn't work then great news, he only has brain cancer!

umm... dude.. you gotta explain this!

anyway, i used experience sleep paralysis when i was much younger.. it kinda freaked me out cause you try so hard to move, but you just can't.. and then you think "sh!t, what the hell is happening to me... if i can just.... turn... on... that.... light........."

he might want to go see a doctor though.. i know there's lots of sleep clinics out there studying these very issues..

Sleep paralysis.

Yep. I have had the same thing. Weird sh!t can happen when you are in this state. It's almost like your dream really is occurring because you feel like you are conscious yet paralyzed.

I've had dreams where I'm falling and I wake up before I hit the ground and I could swear I still feel like I'm falling. I've also sleep walked to the garage and re-organized my tools one night.
