Weird Temps

Hi All,

My E4400/P5W-DH rig was OC'ed to 3.4GHZ and the temps was 30/55, with TR Ultra 120 Extreme?! I thought it was because I didn't installed the heaksink properly. Yesterday I took everything apart and re-apply the AS5 and stuff. When I tested it with only the HD, Mouse and KB, the temps became 23/35??!! But the most unbelievable thing happened after I put everything back together, the temps climbed back to 30/55!

I tried to "uninstall" everything again except that I didn't re-install the heatsink but I couldn't get 23/35 ever again. I'm out of luck right now. Can anybody help? Thanks a million!

your side pannel was open. Therefore allowing more fresh air from the outside to cool the heat sink.

Im guessing thats the reason.

Other then that, if oyu didnt change or play with the bios settings, and your fins on the TR is clean, i dont see why it would jump like that.

I tried removing the side panel too and duplicating the exact scenario that I used to have 23/35, but no go. Really weird....

maybe you just had your cables in a much better spot for airflow? on my case If I hook up too much stuff to one power connecter I can see my fans slow down alot. so maybe make sure they are all spinning at the right speed. 23c seems like its very low though, what was the room temperature? maybe it was just really cold and you didnt notice. With my scythe ninja I cant get anywhere near those temps, im about 40 idle 53 load.

It happened within an hour or so so it couldn't be just the ambient. And all my fans are controlled by either a fan controller or speedfan so I can monitor their RPMs and I didn't notice any difference. The most frustrating thing for me is that the delta T is too large (~30 after running Orthos for half an hour) since I'm using a supposedly best air cooler on the market.
