Weird USB problem....

Hey guys, I have a problem. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad Pro. When it is already plugged into the computer when it is off, and i start the computer it freezes in the beginning screen where it shows the drives. It doesnt even get to showing the drives. IT checks the memory then shows the bios and freezes. When i unplug the gamepad pro from the usb port at the back, it continues to checking the drives then loading up windows. This has never happened before. Now, when i plug the gamepad back into the usb port in windows, it detects it and works perfectly. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong?

My system is as follows:
Asus P4T 500, Intel 2.4 ghz, 512mb of RDRAM, Ati Radeon 9500 Pro.

Similiar thing happen to me with my Flash Reader and I just changed USB ports then all was well.

Couple of things to try. Uninstall/Reinstall drivers if there are any, Turn USB off in the BIOS and then back on, also remove device and are you running the device through a Hub? If so then try connecting it straight to the MoBo. If your on XP then restore it back when the problem didn't exist.

XP sp1a solved a simular problem I had with a usb2 cd burner.
