Weird, why would my doctor give me 2 school days off for a Cold/Ear Infection?

From the sound of things, i was given the extra day because of the Ear Infection. Or was it just me? I've never had one before, so i didn't even know that i had it. My ear doesn't hurt or anything, the only thing different was that i had to crank up the music a wee-bit louder today than usual. So what else can i expect from this Ear Infection, and why would my doctor give me 2 days off because of this?

heh I've had a lot of ear infections through my life, had to have tubes put in my ear at one point... its not contagious and it will pass quickly if you take your antibiotics but be sure and finish them all up... seems like he was being generous with how much you should miss, dunno

Bacteria(as opposed to viral) ear infections can be passed to others, although the chance is very small. I recently had a major ear infection(lasted about two and halfweeks, while having the cipro drops as well as cipro tablets. Let me tell ya, it took vicadin to numb the pain(key word numb). I also could not hear at all in that ear during most of that time. Not all ear infections are created equal.

tell me about it. typical asian parents. i don't know about her, but i'd rather be wreaking havoc at home instead of infecting the rest of my classmates.
