Hello,
I recently purchased Manufacturer Recertified OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX100G 2.5" 100GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) as a boot up drive for my second gaming rig. I originally installed it on my ancient s939 system and had no issues whatsoever neither with the windows 7 boot or installation.
When I was installing windows 7 on my new rig (i5 3570k) I had some minor issues with the windows 7 installation and now I am having issues every time I boot.
Every time the PC boots up after it gets past the windows 7 logo, welcome, and then it just shows the desktop background (all black) without any icons and trays. It just hangs there for a while. Usually a minute or two.
I know it should not be taking that long with an SSD and it probably wouldn't take that long with a HDD since it is a fresh install.
What steps can I take to troubleshoot this issue? What is the name of that utility that specifically scans SSDs to make sure they are healthy? I already checked to make sure ACHI is enabled in BIOS and other than that I haven't done anything other than changing boot priority (to my SSD) and plugging it into another SATA port.
