I have a Dell Precision 530 workstation running Win2K SP2 here at work, and I'm having trouble auto-running some of my CDs on it. Here's the deal. Autorun is on, and it works fine, to a point. Basically, on a few of my CDs, the CD will go in, autorun, and once it starts up the application (setup or whatever it may be), that application will NOT show up on the screen, but will show up in task manager as using 100% of one of my CPUs...50% of my system CPU cycles. Understand? Also, when I kill that process, on these particular CDs, it will do the exact same thing if I try to manually run the application. I know it's not the CDs, too, because they work perfectly on every other computer I have tried them on, except other Dells. It seems to me this is a Dell problem. --But Dell customer service doesn't have a clue about it. WTF?
Anyone else ever have problems running applications from CDs? If so, what was the solution?
