Weirdness with images in IE

For as long as I can remember this has been happening. It's pretty minor, but I wonder if anyone else has noticed it. It has to do with the pics of open blue folders at the main forums page here. When the page loads up the folders are nice and crisp. But if I scroll up or down, any that were not visible before that scroll into view become very jagged. Minimizing and maximizing the page cleans the ones that are visible up, but scroll around again and the jaggies show up like before. I get a similar problem here:

Major Attitude's pic there on the right will become garbled if I scroll it out of veiw then back up. But the pic on the left always seems to be fine.

thats odd, it does not happen to me. What version of IE are u using

Its a vid card issue I think, its to do with directx and smooth scroll.

yep, probably video card problem. Which one are you using? you can try downloading updated drivers or reducing the video acceleration in the control panel.

This has been happening across 2 computers and three video cards (GF2, GF3, & GF4) for as long as I can remember. I can't be the only one gettig this.

I have been through the 3 mentioned video cards, a PIII, and Athlon XP, 2 VIA motherboards (Apollo Pro 133A, 266a), SDRAM, DDR RAM, a 230, 300, & 350 PSU. I cannot possibly be hardware. It's either the nvidia drivers, via drivers, Win98 or IE itself (was happening as far back as ver. 5.5 at least). None of these are uncommon, so someone else must be running into this.

I probably don't have to ask this because you're posting here, but you're not using AOL or an ISP that uses proxy caches and double image compression, are you?

I'm using Prodigy, just a straight dial-up connection. I don't think there is any proxy being used.

Here is a pic of what I am getting. The top two were rendered as the paged loaded and look fine. The bottom three were scrolled up into view.
