Well done Bank of America

Tried to close one of my BoA credit cards today and ran into a bit of a problem. A very confused rep noted that my BoA profile listed me as deceased. Apparently this was added to my account in 2015. Yet over the last several years I have actively used my credit card and even applied for and been issued new ones without a problem.

This experience makes me feel very comfortable about BoAs operations

Why close it? I've got one since '88. I'll charge something on it every few months to keep it active. Unused available credit.

edit: RIP

My experience with Bank of America not wanting to correct the problem of someone else taking money out of my account to make it a negative balance made me decide to not let them have my money anymore.

Not a good bank to me. Find a better banker to do business with.

Anyone remember when banks offered free bank accounts with a $100 initial balance?

Now they offer free bank accounts but you have to have like $200k in your account or more to not be charged for each month of service. Why charge people when they have less money and not charge when they have more money? It seems they are specifically aiming to take money from poor people.

Holding and processing your money costs money. A lot more than in the past. By having a minimum amount it insures that their return at least covers these costs.

It's because the poor people are dumb enough to pay those fees. People with more money have half a brain and they refuse to pay shit.

I hold a BOA account - mostly because it's a bank that is near me and I want to have a bank that is closeby incase I ever need something like deposit coins, get a money order, etc... Anyhow, I needed a book of checks because there is one person I have to write a check for on a regular basis... They tried to charge me $15 or some shit just to get some checks and I chuckled.... Brought the manager over and said either send me some checks for free or I'm ACHing every cent out of my account and closing it...

The banking system in general has failed. They are supposed to be making money off your money. They are..yet supposedly it isn't enough.

Go with a credit union - not perfect, but better than the giant don't care about you banks.

I guess - but maybe now there are just plenty more people that live paycheck to paycheck...?

It's hard to say that the bank earned much interest on those deposits when they never have more than $100 in their account at any point..

I got the points I wanted from them - no need to pay the annual fee. I'll expect a decent eulogy from you by tomorrow

Those giant don't care about you banks hand out credit card perks like candy though.

i think he had me listed as the sole beneficiary for all his airline points

This jarred my curiosity so that would be 294,400 airlines miles to various airlines. Should have asked for the Chase points too as that would have been another 269,000

I'm sorry you had to find out about your passing in such an unfortunate manner. We were kind of waiting for the right time to tell you, and it never happened.
FWIW, you pull it off well.

Sorry to say, it hasn't been that good of a party for your dead self. You're under your stage floor and your wife has had it on Hallmark reruns for months.

Banks suck - go credit union. I’ve been using CUs since 1989. Will never go back to banks.

Full disclosure: I do have a BoA CC through AAA from the 80s but don’t want to close it due to negative impact to credit score.

Is the OP still here or did he drift off like Patrick and Bruce? Asking because I didn't get around to the eulogy.
