Been waiting for some retailer somewhere to have a 1080 GTX at MSRP and in stock now since the darn things have been released and newegg this weekend finally got some of the Gigabyte G1 Gaming version in stock. So ordered one and going to move my 970 down to my wife's computer and do something with the 290x in hers right now I guess. Not that I've had a whole lot of opportunity to play games of late, but I'm such a nerd that likes having a higher end computer that I put together and maintain

Still, looking at these forums it seems the Gigabyte cards are having more issues than not. Hopefully mine won't have any.

I put a pre-order in for the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid. I excite! Hopefully I get in on the first shipment, otherwise I disappoint.

Grats on ordering your card. I hope it has no issues either and meets your demands.

I finally got a notification today that the EVGA 1080 FTW's are back in stock...just ordered one after what seems like an eternity of waiting...I'm so stoked to finally be getting one.... I was trying to hold out for the Ti, but couldn't wait any longer....

Yah the shortage and price gouging on these 1080's was frustrating as heck. I would have bought one sooner, but I wasn't going to spend $100+ premium on them just because some places felt like gouging the prices. Glad Newegg and some more reputable online places are getting them back in stock finally.

I've had really good luck with Microcenter stores. If you've got one near you, they seem to be selling at MSRP and have a pretty good stock of cards. I picked up my eVGA 1080 FTW there.

I ordered a 1080 ftw from a seller on ebay and the dumb a$$ never sent it so I had to do a chargeback on my cc. Anyway I just bought the same card from newegg for close to 100 bucks cheaper so it's all good in the long run.

Just found out the 1080 FTW Hybrid might ship next week. Hoping to have a new monitor to christen it with.

Good times are ahead.

You know you are slightly downgrading her performance by replacing that 290x with the 970 right?

Only on DX12 titles or really high resolutions, but there is a drastic drop in power consumed to switch her over. She has a 1080p monitor and basically plays the Sims 4. So it would be a performance boost to move her to the 970.

Ah yes that makes sense in that case.

You can probably get good resale on the 290x with miners still buying them up, at least for a while until rx 480 stock improves. I'm almost with you on the 1080, but not quite. I'm going to stay strong and hold out for Vega and non-Titan GP102

What's so special about the FTW version of this card? They all seem to be clocked the same.

Better cooling and higher chance of getting a better overclock but what I have been seeing these days is that it all comes down to silicon lottery. So just go with the cheaper brand and or just pick a card from your favorite manufacturer and call it a day.

OK cool. Lol I was panicking that I bought the wrong version of this card. I like EVGA so I just bought the SC version and pray I can get some extra clocks out of this thing.

Yea I like evga because I heard they have good customer service so I would get any card from them (not the DT version) if the price is right. I don't know if I made the right decision going for the 1080 since it might be bottle-necked by my 4670k but I'm holding out for kaby lake since it makes little sense getting the 6700k when new processors are coming out soon.

coming from an i5-2500k, i definitely couldn't have waited until the 7th Gen processors came out since jumping into VR land.
