After some hassle i finally got slackware up and running with my DSL setup. However, I have a few problems. Firstly, when i launch Xfree86, and it loads gnome, my screen is shifted to the right like 25 pixels or so...i can adjust with my monitor, but when i boot back into windows, i have to readjust it again...any ideas? ALSO, my slackware disc got corrupted with KDE do i didnt install it...now i decided i detest gnome (seems like bloatware with nautilus...) and i want KDE...So i go to the kde site and get the packages..BUT, one of the required packages, "kdesupport" is not even on the ftp, nor the mirrors...so i say whatever and install the packeges by running "installpkg kdexx" like slcakware says. It installs, but now when i run X, it says "command exec startkde not found" (i changed the xinitrc file to use kde...) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

After you get your settings how you want in xvidtune hit print or show or something like that (sorry but my Linux machine is in my dorm room. won't be back for another 2 days). It'll then print out a line in the terminal window that you used to open xvidtune. Put that line in the monitor section of your XF86Config file. The xvidtune corrected settings will then be loaded by default so that your image isn't shifted.

The reason it says that is you can tell it to put the video card into a mode that either it or the monitor doesn't support and it'll really try it, as long as you know your video card and monitors capabilities you should be fine.
