I know lots of you guys visit my site from time to time.. Well.. just wanted to inform you that i have sold the site. After 7 years of running it, I just got tired of it and wanted to move onto something else. The work of gathering, downloading, resizing, posting all those wallpapers was just a bit too tedious and boring.
So i sold the entire site for $46K.
It's time for me to move onto something new. something less work intensive. So.. i've started http://www.speed-driven.com. It will be more of an automotive news blog site, and less wallpaper driven. (i'd appreciate a link to it if you run a site also.)
The site made about $40K last year from ads. however, ever since january.. it's gone down dramatically. I did a complete redesign to help bring the revenues back up, but nothing helped.
When i sold it.. the monthly income was down to about $700. minus $325 for hosting every month.. well.. you can see why it wasn't worth it for me to keep running the site.
So i posted the site on sitepoint.com. A normal site sells for about 10-12 months of profit. So theoretically.. my site should have been sold for around $10K at the most. But due to the site's popularity and the huge amount of traffice it generated.. i was able to demand a price of $40K. People started making me higher offers, and i settled on the highest offer of $46K.
So.. to say i'm happy is an understatement.. but at the same time.. i'm pretty sad to see it go. The new owner is some rich dude from Texas who wants to get into the automotive web industry.. so.. much luck to him.
Hope you guys start using Speed-Driven.com and spread the word.
Just wanted to let the regulars here know what's going on.
