As some of you may or may not know in June my wife and I ordered a Ford Maverick. We purchased it on January 26th with 19 miles on it. About a week or so ago my wife was backing out of her parking spot at work and sideswiped the driver side door and passenger door on my GMC Acadia Denali......sigh....

So is it worth getting it fixed or do we just chalk it up to a lesson learned and leave it? Turning it over to insurance is not an option because Allstate doesn't cover in family accidents.....and I don't do bodywork so that is not an option either.

Atleast it’s minimal damage and easily fixed for the cost of paint and labor.

My 2015 Mazda 3 was three days old and less than 100 miles on the odometer when a lady went straight in a double right turn. $10k in damage to a brand new car. Took a month to get it fixed.

bumper covers are easy, you could order the part from a local body shop and have them paint it for about 600 bucks. I have done both my inlaws cars in the last year. an older ML350 and a New 4 runner.

Yup! This is a cheap and relatively easy fix. I agree that it would be 500-600 at a local shop. You could even try your hand at a DIY fix on a bumper like that. I've repaired worse damage than that in my driveway.

600 is the diy price, that's about the best price I have found for the part, and painting it. install is easy though. I don't think you would get away with less than 1k if the shop does the 2 hours or so labor to remove and install.

Wow! That's expensive! Here in the middle of the midwest US, a local shop would repair and paint for around 600 (no new parts though). If insurance is paying, they tend to insist on new parts.

if its fixable, then maybe. everything on the front range is more expensive.

Right now I'd be worried about part availability if you need to do a full replace of it. I've heard horror stories from Mach-E buyers having to wait 6 months for replacement body panels.

as a friend of mine said when i dropped my brand-new motorcycle after 2 days of ownership...congrats, it's officially yours!

if parts arent' damaged, i'd do the most halfass job that doesn't make it super obvious and doesn't cost a ton of money. then if it really annoys you, you can pony up for a proper fix

The Acadia faired a lot better than the Mav. Some scuffs on the paint and a few chips on the door protector that could be touched up with a paint pen. Not to sound funny but I honestly think the damage to the Acadia could be buffed out and unless you have a trained I eye would probably not notice it.

Also I wanted to mention that as far as the Mav goes we are going to follow your guys' advice and get it fixed. It's just to new and we waited 7 months to get it that it just makes sense to get it repaired.

From the looks of it, he doesn't even need to do that. The bumper cover isn't physically damaged, or it at least appears not to be. He just needs to spend about $50 on touch-up paint, primer and vinyl-adhesion promoter from some outfit like "PaintScratch". A little masking tape, use of the aerosol cans, and then some polishing compound or rubbing compound to smooth off the edges at the masking tape. PaintScratch offers paint in aerosol cans that match the paint-codes for particular makes and models. They should have the right paint, the primer and other items for their "paint system".
