Plus the picture of the half showed it with no collar....it looks almost as good as the windsor when drawn up, but slightly less symmetrical.

It's really straightforward once you know what you're doing. There's only 4 real moves to tying a bow tie:

1. overhand knot (located where one of the ends, hereafter refered to as the short end, just starts to flare)
2. Fold and hold the short end so it looks like it should
3. Wrap the center, top to bottom, with the long end (making sure to keep the fabric "flowing" and uncreased)
4. getting the long end over the folded end and through wrap.

The last one requires experience and dexterity to get it looking right though.

Well don't be stingy. Share the list with us, I am working on one for my daughter and I could take the advice. Right now I am more concerned with her driving. Needs to know how to change a flat, check fluids, and change your oil.

Those pictures are misleading. The first one would look much better under a collar (you wouldn't even notice the slope). I wear a tie 4 days a week and use both knots. Either can look better or worse based on the specific tie.

I use a half-Windsor and it never looks as lop-sided as that. That basically looks like a four-in-hand, aka the "lazy, fuck it, close enough" knot. The full Windsor is pretty manly, but it's just not a great every day knot. It's a special occasion knot.
