I'm going to give Windows Mobile and HTC one last chance to redeem themselves before I jump ship to a better system or at least a new phone.

I'm not one to spend a lot of money and then try to make myself feel better about the purchase by posting a positive review. If anything, I'll be ultra pissed if it continues to be lackluster.

I'm going to do my best to make it fail and point out all the flaws when it gets here on Monday.

The TP2 got pretty solid reviews from what I've read. Its too rich for my blood though, mostly because of the expensive data packages that carriers charge with the phone.

Sprint's data package is like fifteen bucks a month. If you can buy a $350 phone, you can afford that.

Critical reviews are often more valuable than overly favorable ones. I'll enjoy reading what you have to say about it.

I have it from Verizon. Its a good phone. Great screen, fantastic keyboard, solid camera considering no flash. However, the touch screen is resistive. Its very good for a resistive screen, but still not as responsive as a G1/iPhone/Pre. Touch Flo 3D actually makes Windows Mobile decent, although if you get a few clicks deep into the OS things are a bit small to be finger friendly. I'm wondering how much of that will improve when it gets upgraded to WM 6.5.

I too, am very interested in your review. Although I have my touch pro running perfectly, using a WM 6.5 Rom. The bigger screen is nice.

The phone should get here tomorrow morning. It will take me a few days to review and I'm going to do my best to find all the flaws and make myself feel like a tool for spending $400 on a damn phone. I already have a list of things that I'm probably going to rail on.

1. No LED flash: WTF HTC? Do you have any idea how useful that little LED flash thing was on the TP? Jesus fr*cking Christ!
2. Have to remove the battery cover to reset the phone: *smashes face against wall* WinMo phones lock! It's what they do! Holy sh*t!
3. Still slow: The hardware specs are still the same as the original TP. Meaning it's still a slow ass frickin' phone. The only browser I'm ok with using because it's fast enough is Opera Mini. My GPS (iGuidance) still runs like a dog. Long Word documents still take a long time to load. PDF files with lots of images (like a park map) are wayyy too slow.
4. No FM tuner: The hardware is there but Sprint, you still decide to disable it? F you. I'm complaining to the FCC.

-The TP2 does have LED flash - for some reason its disabled by default (at least on the Verizon version), if you go into your notification settings, its there.

-It feels considerably faster than the original TP to me. One thing about HTC, they tend to underclock their phones. The G1 used this same 528MHz processor, but it was clocked somewhere around 380. I have no idea what the actual clock speed on the TP and TP2 is, though, but the biggest slowdown on the G1 (again, same processor) was when accessing memory. Even though its the same amount of memory, its possible that the memory access is faster on the TP2. I dunno, I just know that it definitely feels faster to me, but I agree, a faster processor (like that 1ghzer on the HD2) would have been ideal.

The LED flash that I'm talking about is the little LED on the back of the TP for use as a flash when taking pictures. It was really useful as a flashlight. I don't see the LED on the TP2.

With all these faults that you don't like why did you even buy it?

I think that you will like the phone. Many TP1 owners hated their TP1 but really like the TP2. Even though the hardware is the same as the TP1, again a lot of TP1 owners say that the TP2 is much faster. I have had the phone for a month and have never had to hit the reset button so far. it has locked up on me a few times but nothing i couldnt get out of with a soft reset.

It does take some tweaking and the 1st think you should do is install the tweaks cab from here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88640
I was hesitant at 1st but now am never going back.

I have a few cab I can send you if you want them. The MS skymarket, Midiomi ( the song recogonition app whhich is really cool and a few others. )
