I disagree to an extent. Most of the attacks that I would consider sexist have attacked her about "how dare she run for office, she has 5 kids, she cant possibly have time" or "how can she manage the country when her family is in such disarray." THOSE are sexist. Her daughter's unfortunate pregnancy brings up an ISSUE in her beliefs on sex education, but her DAUGHTER shouldnt be the topic... which it HAS been, and there is NO denying that. Discuss her record as governor and mayor all you want... please, I dont know everything about her yet... but there should be NO question asked of her that you would not ask of any other MAN running for office.
Aside from that, please, discuss trooper gate, the pipeline, etc. I want that discussion. It is the discussions on her children and husband that disgust me, as they are NOT running for office.
Yeah, yeah, their children & family are a "private matter". Then why are they being marched up on stage at a national convention?. Are they good little political props?. Then again,
thats all women and children seem to be to the GOP, props and tools to be used.
Where was this respect for my privacy when they destroyed FISA protections? when they supported mandatory drug testing? when they get to judge me on who I marry and have sex with? when it comes to womens privacy i.e. abortion? Haven't republicans been saying for years that there is no right to privacy?
Speaking from a purely political stance, I hope that they parade those two kids on stage to rapturous applause.
Can you imagine that? It will come off like a bizarre freakshow, and will reinforce every stereotype there is about the radical right of the Republican Party. I'd imagine that every person in middle America watching that (especially the vaunted soccer mom demographic) will be staring at the screen, mouth agape in shock and the exploitation they're witnessing.
Seeing McCain hugging the soon to be son in law of the Palins gave me the creeps, like he was offering his blessing on this union as the Patriarch of the Republican "family". What did he promise this kid if he marries this girl, a draft lottery pick to the Mighty Ducks?

From the right and the "mainstream" press if a black, agressive basketball player from the South Side, who described himself on his MySpace page as a "fuckin' gangbanger," were to be Obama's theoretical daughter's boyfriend - even an acquaintance - let alone the father of her out-of-wedlock child. What WOULD happen on the right? Besides a few strokes and cardiac events on Fox News, the rhetoric would be almost beyond imagination.
Yet here we have a kid who is a self-described "fuckin' redneck" with some rather pugilistic talk going on his now-removed MySpace page, and apparently a quite agressive hockey player. And he's a saint, for agreeing (under who knows how much pressure) to marry his pregnant girlfiend?
