At my job every year in October we take a leadership survey, that asks how satisfied we are with our leaders (and how well we work as a team as well). Every year my team has the lowest satisfaction in the department. So this year our manager asked us to get together in 3 different 2 hour meetings to discuss things. We just got done with our second meeting, and here's where we are at.
The first meeting was basically a "bitch fest" where everybody bitched about stuff they had issues with. Luckily I had another meeting that trumped this one, and I didn't have to sit through it. I just heard about what was said later on.
The second meeting was from 1-2:30 today, and it's theme was basically "how do we improve these results?" It started with what our manager needs to do, then went into what the team needs to do, team goals we need to set, and finally was about 45 minutes of how people want recognition and movie day type crap from our boss more often.
The second meeting was pretty pointless, but immediately following the end of that one we had another meeting. We had no idea what this was about, and around 2:25 we see about 10 different managers (of various levels, including the departments boss) all walk into the room. Then the one boss starts, "Well you all know how much things change around here, so we wanted to get you together to inform you of a change that's happening in leadership. Blah blah blah. So, we would like to congratulate (bosses name) on pursuing a new oppertunity!"
Wait what? We just spent an hour and a half talking about what we want from our boss, and what she could do better just to find out she's taking another position? Wow....
I love it....
