Its down to 40 at newegg but 2 in s/h. Monarch has it for 40.99 out the door. Newegg shipping tends to fluctuate from free to not free often (even throughout the day). Keep checking!

Back down to 42.00 and free shipping.
Update: 7/2/05
Looks like newegg decreased the price again, but 4.00 in shipping now. Congrats to all who got in on the deal. My sympathies to those who got screwed over with a DOA. The deal is still hot IMO, but at this point. I would wait to see if free shipping comes back (perhaps July 4th special?). You can get the drive at Monarch for 42.50 free shipping and you can choose to opt out of the required OEM software. Just change it to "Required if OEM drive". They will not charge you from what I have been reading. The invoice should confirm this as well. So that's all for now. If you still want the drive, get it at Monarch for now. (You reading this newegg people? Ain't gonna buy from you til you bring back free shipping!)

***Price is now 42.99***
Update: 6/29/05
Some people are mentioning Monarch or other companies which is cool with me. After all the best deal is the best deal. At Monarch the burner is 43.00, but you are required to buy the OEM Nero software for 6.99. If you like this deal, then by all means go with it. But for those who just want the burner, I still think Newegg is the way to go.
Update: 6/29/05
The deal is still alive and kickin. The CD wallet combo special seems to be gone. Only the DVD media and mouse remain. Some folks have mentioned Monarch. I've never shopped there, but if you think a better deal is there, let me know. Peace!
Update: 6/28/05
***Price is now 43.99 with combo special of cd wallet or mouse for free!!***
I don't know how long this one is gonna last. Technically the sale should be over. Who knows. At this point, I'm not sure what advice to give cause the price just keeps dropping. But you know what happens when you tempt fate
Update: 6/27/05
***Price is now 45.99!*** - This is a one day sale. Ends Today!
For some reason I can't get the right specs on this drive. Every damn site seems to have different specs. Note that I have now changed the DVD-R DL speed from 8x to 6x as one of the posters alerted me to this. However, I am still not sure of this because there are some sites claiming (including the german NEC site) that the speed is only 4x. If someome can please confirm this, I would appreciate it. My drive is not here yet so I cannot verify. I am sorry if this affects your purchasing decision. Please understand that I am doing everything I can to prevent misinformation. All the other specs seem to be in order. Best of luck.

Comments: I don't know if you should buy the pioneer or the NEC, they are both good to me. As for the question about whether the 3540 is worth the extra money over the 3520, I would say yeah since it's only a few bucks more.
Enjoy everyone!
