But with a base of 42k, isnt that a bit different? I would prolly be looking at 45-46k with options...
Oh, but go drive one...and suddenly the price just won't be a big deal.
I test drove a loaded last-gen G35 against a BMW 330i, and the BMW was just so much more refined it's not funny. I bet things haven't changed much.
The 3-series is still the benchmark for a reason.
But with a lack of reliability. I know so many people who go out and buy a nice bimmer only to end up having it fall apart. Their long-term quality is a shadow of what it used to be 10 years ago.
Buddy of mine at an old job had a 95 330, thing was perfect until somebody t-boned him a year and a half ago, totalling it. He went out and bought an 03 330, a year later and stuff is falling off of it, it rattles, and he's had it in the garage a couple times.
Too bad to, he says its a lot of fun.

If you can afford to buy a BMW, you can afford to maintain it.
But yeah, with the (easily $10k) additional sticker cost, plus the additional maintenance costs, the 335i and the G35 are not really in the same class.
Plus, BMW's are made to be leased, not bought outright.

Poor excuse.
I may be able to afford a 335, but if it's going to spend lots of time in the shop, then I'd rather not.

If you want to drive a BMW and not worry, the only way to do it is with a lease.

Personally, I think statements like this are laughable at best, completely silly at worst.
1. If I buy a car and plunk down major bank, I do NOT want to have crap go wrong every week.
2. If crap goes wrong, it's in the garage, meaning I have a loaner
3. If crap keeps going wrong it means that I spend less time driving and more time in the garage
4. Why buy a garage car?
The hassle alone of an unreliable car makes it so I demand a price discount, not a premium. If I have to keep bringing it, garaging it, and dealing with the crap, then why buy at all?
Its like a person I know who bought an S4. It spent 8 weeks out of 16 in the garage until Audi finally gave her a brand new car.
Personally, I'd rather buy a car on reliability, less hassle, and quality than perceived (but not actual) quality and brand name.

I think imma get me one of these on lease. What do you think the lease payments per month are on a 3 year lease for a G35 Sport edition?
People shouldnt lease primary cars, IMO. THAT is trying to acquire they cannot afford. Leasing a secondary/fun car? sure.. with less obligation and attachmentsOriginally posted by: alimoalem

The BMW 3 series are such small cars. Geez, I tried to sit in the back and there's no leg room for someone who is 5' 11". My friend who owned the car found himself with a broken 1st gear and decided on the same day not to deal with it. He traded the car for a lexus ES and now he's happy with a bigger and much better car. That beamer is not worth $45K. No sane person would pay an extra $15K for the BMW name.
