It wasn't that gorey, it wasn't original, it wasn't scary, and they shoved the entire background for the plot into one scene.

Save your money.

Wasn't gory? I dont know what movie you were watching then ...

and what scene did they shove the entire background into, because I have no clue what you are talking about.

i agree though, it wasn't a scary movie at all. it was still a badass movie.

also if you do tell the scene, label it spoiler so others wont read it if they havent seen it.

One more thing, because the first half and second half of the movie are so different, the movie doesn't set a mood. It doesn't give you time to get yourself ready to be scared.

The BEST scary movies are the ones that scare you with subtle sounds and actions, that build up to a scare, the ones that leave you watching, waiting, anticipating the next scary thing.

I didn't miss it. There were a few hints, but it was all too crammed, and it's like just in case you didn't get it, here's a loud obnoxious guy to explain it.

The movie would have been better if they split it into two movies.

First half - girls gone wild, europe edition.

Second half - gory, horrer movie.

reminds me of the people that came to a 9:00 showing of 40 Year Old Virgin with their 2 young children. They made it just past the talk of the trip to Tijuana and the Donkey Show before leaving.

I agree. The soundtrack seemed to be, well, pretty much just screaming. And that was somewhat comical at times. At one point, most of the theater was laughing and snickering because of it. Like I said earlier, the movie was ok but I can't really like a movie that has hardly any substance, just a few gory scenes.

Exactly! It tried to do everything instead of doing one thing well.

well one thing is for sure ... this movie DEFINITELY is not a scary movie at all.

the marketing of this movie reminded me of the village, like how they marketted the village to be some type of horror movie and it was far from it. however, the previews of this movie aren't NEARLY as mis-leading as the previews of the village were. it's just not a scary movie that will make you jump or anything.

Thing is though, these piece of sh!t people behind me brought their 4 FVCKING YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO THE MOVIE!!!! I swear, wtf is wrong with some people? You could tell this 'mom' was a whore, and her dad/boyfriend whatever was a piece of crap. Cigarette behind the ear, big baggy clothes constantly calls people 'son' and 'dawg' and being completely 100% serious. (I say that when Im joking around from time to time).

I feel bad for that daughter. That is a movie no young kid should be allowed to see.

This is one of the main reasons I have decided to put together a home theater. I HATE PEOPLE!!

Very true. I rented The Village and was pretty pissed about it. Talk about a movie that sucked.

But to me Hostel was overhyped......talking about ambulances coming to get people who couldn't handle the movie and had to be medically helped. When it all came down to it, this movie didn't have much more gore than a lot of the horror movies in the '80's, but with substantially less plot and zero "horror".

the writer based it off of this place in Thailand that is advertised online where you can "pay $10,000 to shoot someone in the head"

Similar experience tonight, though with an 8-year-old girl...

No kidding! When I saw the Dawn of the Dead remake last year a worthless white-trash couple brought their toddler (probably about three) to a midnight showing. Jesus, they should post social workers at the entrance to R-rated gore/horror movies so these idiot parents can have their kids taken away.
