Work has just got in the way for me - plus drinking and convenient / comfort food has had an effect. No bueno
I have enjoyed my cider this summer though.
Cardio or weights? or both?
Both. 15 min jog and then 5x5 chest and shoulders, finished with a 5 min cool down jog.
Nothing crazy, just good to get to the gym.
Definitely more than me so far today...gonna try and get a 3 mile run in a bit later when it cools down to 90 degrees here in Texas...about 98 right now....
I'm in all honesty convinced that working out just isn't for me. I'm trying to get back in the groove again, but I honestly get no joy out of it or "runner's high" as some say. I get zero enjoyment out of it whatsoever, and just knowing that I'm allocating time to do it just makes me feel more depressed.
I will never understand people that dedicate their entire free time to that shit... running marathons, bulking up like a hulk, etc... then they get run over by a car or they die of a heart attack while running ironically. Things like that have certainly happened to what we perceive as some of the most "healthy" individuals.I don't like exercise either. It's a chore. But, it makes me feel good - helps my digestion, helps me sleep, helps me not be fat, etc., so it's worth the time & effort investment. Cardio & calisthenics at home is all I do! No gym required.
That sounds fucking awesome. I wish I could peace out during lunch for even an hour, let alone 2 to have time left to shower and maybe do a chore. It breaks up my day. I pretty much work from 7-noon and will do some errands on/off in that time, and then take a 2 hour long gym/shower break. I'll finish off my last 3 hours of work afterward. It really does help reboot my brain, and make me feel better. Even if work didn't go well, I still accomplished something that day...
When I commuting to the office, I have very little time or energy left over to go to the gym at the end of the day. So I can understand why many don't go. It's not something that I would desire to do on the weekends either. That's leisure and relaxing time. Fortunately I only have to go into the office once a week now. The typical 9 to 5 is just an unhealthy and inefficient lifestyle that I will never take part in again, mainly because it's not really 9 to 5. It's that, plus preparation (shower, clothing, etc), plus commuting, plus colleagues or bosses keeping you extra because your hours aren't exactly lining up with theirs. It's really like 10+ hours, and that's before errands falling outside of those hours, or bosses/colleagues trying to keep you around for a bit longer. No wonder most don't end up hitting the gym throughout the week.
Enjoying life should be the biggest priority.
Those runners are enjoying running??? they are doing something healthy, they are outside and they don't have their face planted to a screen...
Do you eat raw kale and say "Yay! I'm being healthy and having so much fun! Also I love the kale farts!" ?
Doing healthy isn't fun - be it running or dieting. I would kill to have the time I once had to play World of Warcraft for 6 hours straight like I was as a kid. Growing old sucks with responsibilities.
If I ever land a remote job, my plan is to work 6-10, then hit the gym up and eat lunch, then work 12-4. Your schedule sounds pretty similar to what my ideal schedule is.It breaks up my day. I pretty much work from 7-noon and will do some errands on/off in that time, and then take a 2 hour long gym/shower break. I'll finish off my last 3 hours of work afterward. It really does help reboot my brain, and make me feel better. Even if work didn't go well, I still accomplished something that day...
