I'm in all honesty convinced that working out just isn't for me. I'm trying to get back in the groove again, but I honestly get no joy out of it or "runner's high" as some say. I get zero enjoyment out of it whatsoever, and just knowing that I'm allocating time to do it just makes me feel more depressed.

Also summer is hot as balls here - so I basically hibernate for the 8 months of summer that we have while eating Ben and Jerry's and then hope to come out and exercise more during our winter. Signing up for 5ks and shit helps incentivize me a bit since I paid for it.

Work has just got in the way for me - plus drinking and convenient / comfort food has had an effect. No bueno

I have enjoyed my cider this summer though.

Work is definitely part of my problem as I dedicate way too much time to it all in an effort to climb the corporate ladder. I've convinced myself that if I stuggle it out for my initial 10 years I can "retire" to a cushy job where it's ACTUALLY 9-5 instead of all day every day.

I was picking up some duct work from my metal shop this morning. I managed 3 pull ups on the overhanging shelf in there. I am not doing good.

Both. 15 min jog and then 5x5 chest and shoulders, finished with a 5 min cool down jog.

Nothing crazy, just good to get to the gym.

Definitely more than me so far today...gonna try and get a 3 mile run in a bit later when it cools down to 90 degrees here in Texas...about 98 right now....

That's hot! It's been about 63-65 degrees for me today - our heatwave is finally over.

I don't like exercise either. It's a chore. But, it makes me feel good - helps my digestion, helps me sleep, helps me not be fat, etc., so it's worth the time & effort investment. Cardio & calisthenics at home is all I do! No gym required.

It breaks up my day. I pretty much work from 7-noon and will do some errands on/off in that time, and then take a 2 hour long gym/shower break. I'll finish off my last 3 hours of work afterward. It really does help reboot my brain, and make me feel better. Even if work didn't go well, I still accomplished something that day...

When I commuting to the office, I have very little time or energy left over to go to the gym at the end of the day. So I can understand why many don't go. It's not something that I would desire to do on the weekends either. That's leisure and relaxing time. Fortunately I only have to go into the office once a week now. The typical 9 to 5 is just an unhealthy and inefficient lifestyle that I will never take part in again, mainly because it's not really 9 to 5. It's that, plus preparation (shower, clothing, etc), plus commuting, plus colleagues or bosses keeping you extra because your hours aren't exactly lining up with theirs. It's really like 10+ hours, and that's before errands falling outside of those hours, or bosses/colleagues trying to keep you around for a bit longer. No wonder most don't end up hitting the gym throughout the week.

I will never understand people that dedicate their entire free time to that shit... running marathons, bulking up like a hulk, etc... then they get run over by a car or they die of a heart attack while running ironically. Things like that have certainly happened to what we perceive as some of the most "healthy" individuals.

Life is a bitch, and I'm not saying eat like a fatty all the time and be obese, I'm just saying keep a balance. Who cares if you don't work out for a couple months? Enjoying life should be the biggest priority.

That sounds fucking awesome. I wish I could peace out during lunch for even an hour, let alone 2 to have time left to shower and maybe do a chore.

I used to go to the gym, but just found it a pain in the butt to drag my ass there. It basically adds 2 extra times in a day that I have to clear snow off the car, defrost it etc. Just a pain. Easier to just go straight home from work and not have to get out again. So I bought my own exercise equipment. Been a while since I've worked out though, I need to get back into it. Told myself I start back up in September. I did go for a lot of long walks this summer, so there's that.

I like going to the gym, usually three nights per week after work for only 45 minutes (I try to duck out early so I can leave the gym before 5:30p.m.). It helps a ton that the place where I work has a small gym, otherwise I'd probably never go to one. I just do basic weights and right now I've been doing the elliptical. I used to run but it hurts so I just limit that to an occasional Saturday afternoon if I have nothing else to do and the weather is nice. I want to get into cycling at some point.

The main benefit for me is mostly mental. I feel great after hitting the gym for 45 minutes, and if I skip it for an extended period I feel a bit "off". Helps a ton with depression.

I've been going 3 or 4 times a week for over a year now. I'm in no way a hulk or anything close to it but I'm pretty toned and I've stayed that way. I guess I'm also lucky I can eat like a pig and not gain weight..well except now I have a small stomach bump which is annoying but that's die to diet, abs are there where they used to be more visible when I was younger.

I've knocked it down to 3 times a week now for about 45min to an hour. One day rest in between and then I'll switch it up and do cardio and weights/legs on other days.

When I first started it was awesome. After a year I was getting bored and felt like well I'm not getting any bigger and I'm tired of having to get new clothes but that eventually settled down. Still considered pretty skinny but mostly muscle where otherwise fat would be.

It does get tiring and I go right after leaving work because if I just go home I know I won't change and head back out. It did get to the point at one time where it felt like my schedule was a chore but i power through it and suck it up. You kind of are forced to stay in shape if you are dating in this century so that's why I partly do it.

It does help me sleep better although not sure how much better as I like staying up and automatically wake up at 6am no matter how long I stay awake at night.

One motivation is comparing pics of how skinny I was in highschool/college vs how much more toned and healthy I look now(still skinny though ) but I get compliments on it too. But the truth is if you stop going you go back to the way you used to look so that's another reason I don't stop.

I don't go to the gym but I have all the equipment I need at home (bench, pulldown machine, dumbbells, barbells, free weights, stationary bike, stairmaster, and treadmill). I've been doing very well this year, cardio about 4 times a week and weights about 5 times a week. I've come to really enjoy it and definitely have noticed a huge improvement in physique.

Those runners are enjoying running??? they are doing something healthy, they are outside and they don't have their face planted to a screen...

Do you eat raw kale and say "Yay! I'm being healthy and having so much fun! Also I love the kale farts!" ?

Doing healthy isn't fun - be it running or dieting. I would kill to have the time I once had to play World of Warcraft for 6 hours straight like I was as a kid. Growing old sucks with responsibilities.

Good for you

Love the gym, love lifting weights, cardio is good too. Hate dieting.

Today was chest/triceps, worked from home so got a good mid-morning workout in. after work workouts are no fun.
Manged 225x6 on the flat bench after warming up with 135x8, 185x8. I think I could have got 7 maybe 8 reps in but no spotter. Been my goal to hit 225x8 for some time and I'm getting close

no I don't... but I don't knock those that do...I don't know why you can't understand that some people truly loving running and they think it is fun...I think it can be fun to get on my bike and ride 30 miles...pretty sure that is being healthy as well...

I only run if someone pisses me off and I have to chase them, or if I'm scared of something. I have good patients and I'm not really scared of much.

The gym is something I look forward to most days. After sitting on my ass for 7-8 hours, going to the gym and working out and being active is a great feeling to me. I go Monday through Thursday and take the weekends off. Sure there are some days I don't feel like going and am not that anxious to go, but I just suck it up and go. Most days I'm ready to go though.

Yesterday after doing an intense leg and ab workout I headed to the pool with my son and it felt great to just cool off in a pool after a hard workout.

If I ever land a remote job, my plan is to work 6-10, then hit the gym up and eat lunch, then work 12-4. Your schedule sounds pretty similar to what my ideal schedule is.
