Online since 1991 or so.

Remember using Netscape 1.1N I think was the first proper browser, though I had Mozilla HotJava or whatever it was called.

All this on a DEC Alpha and a SGI INDY, I had a 80286 and later a 80386 with it I used to do surfing from home with LYNX on a 2400 bps connection.

1995 or 1996 for me I think. We didn't even have a computer until then either. I remember being in 6th grade and typing papers on my dad's computer at work or using the typewriter we had at home.

When I was in the Navy they were still using fancy pre-printed sheets for certificates and awards. I once watched a yeoman bust his has for an hour trying to get a name typed on a stupid little card so the captain could give it to a visiting dignitary. He swore and pissed and moaned the whole time. I had a jolly good laugh. Later when he heard about the story their chief made up a little printable version to be used on card stock.

Thats how I see the world. There is ALWAYS a better way to do something, its just that many times its not worth the time and effort to make the transition. Or somebody in control specifically does not want the world to make that change.
Thats how I see the auto-industry.

I spent every waking minute in the computer lab in the basement of the foreign language building at the University of Illinois Champaign campus when they let us mess around with Mosaic in the early 90s....

Met the wife at the time and she still has that prodigy.net email address from 92. In fact we set up one of our first dates over email since we were both geeked out that we each had an email address.. lol

Because people on morning news shows do not live in the real world. They live in a bubble where they only need to know the slightest bit about the subjects they report on, and that is all they bother to learn (generally speaking).

(This reminds me of how McNabb did not know the OT rules.)

Upon thinking about it a little more, I was given an e-mail address in law school in 1991. I had AOL for a few months before that. So, I would say I was "online" no later than 1991.

I was online in 1995

My first computer was a packard bell running windows 3.11, it was bought towards the middle - end of 1994. When windows 95 came out, the system was upgraded with more memory and win95. After getting windows 95, my family got internet access, and have been online ever since.

By 1998, I was already rockin' broadband. 1994? I routinely went to the neighborhood library to use Webcrawler and NintendoPowerSource but soon got an X-Band video game modem for my SNES (early beta test market) and started sending "X-Mail" to people on AOL and other online places. I had a black and white Mac Plus but it wasn't until I got a Windows 95 machine that I truly went on the www at home.

False memory. We didn't have broadband until we built the Pentium III 500mhz system in early 1999.

Much the same here, started on BBSes 90-91, first experiences with "internet" was telnet games and browsing a whole 10 or so webpages via the Lynx browser.
