Wow I don't get why a church would want to do this. This just draws negative attention. Not sure what Bible they're reading overthere.
I think this is 100% true, but they are remarkably effective at pushing our collective buttons. I wish I were evolved enough to just ignore them, but the idea of them protesting at the CT funerals just makes my blood boil. I can't deny that I would feel more happy than sad if someone blew up their church with the entire venomous clan inside.
1st amendment. They have a right. I hate what they do but they have a right. It's strange that people would defend the 2nd amendment MORE than the 1st amendment.

The news will never stop covering Westboro just like they'll never stop harassing the victim's families for interviews to boost their ratings. The media in this country is completely fucked and leads to so much more harm than good.

The media report what the people want to see. People want to see violence so that's why violence is shown on TV. People are curious to see how others live and experience their lives so reality shows are created. I believe much of what we see on TV is due to what the audience wants.
I completely understand the logic behind it but that's not going to stop me from hanging my head in shame for how our society handles these tragedies.
Something like this should definitely be covered just not on the scale that it is now.
