NCQ is only useful for high I/O server situations, so for the average user out there it makes no difference (actually even for the average enthusiast it still holds true)

sounds pretty fat. 16mb cache. I mean RAM nowadays so cheap I say they should put like 256KB on those things. for an extra 10 bucks cost probbaly make things like super fast.

I could swear I've ordered OEM hard drives that carried a full warranty. Just didn't come with the manual, cables, screws, etc. I could be wrong but my guess is this drive is warrantied for 3 years.

I bought two of these from them over a month ago for $10 more. Been running them in a Raid0 stripe and I can say that I have never been happier with a HD purchase ever! They come with a 3 year warranty. Also in regards to the NCQ thing, I believe these drives run faster without NCQ.

SATA2 3.0gb/s can't be reached yet without striping (RAID 0). In burst a standard SATA2 drive can slightly exceed the 1.5gb/s limit of SATA1.

OEM products can come with the normal warranty, it just means you don't get the extra cables, pretty-looking box, etc. that come with a retail drive.

Don't get the Maxtor! Spread the word. I used to live and die by Maxtor until this week. I just lost a 160GB and a 80GB drive. Both failed without reason and evidently outside of the crappy 1 year warranty. At least my company has divested of Maxtor. I hope to sway all of my friends!!!
