I found confirmation that this is indeed a real deal that WD is offering, but I haven't been able to find a website listing any more of the prices or available drives. These are pretty much around the same prices that you would pay at NE/ZZF/etc, though you're getting the drives directly from WD with free shipping and no tax, hence I think it's a great deal if you don't have much or any warranty left on your drives @ home.

*edit* Thanks for reminding me to scrounge through all my old rigs at home and find as many old WD drives as I can

WD has always offerred this. I've been doing it for years when trying to RMA older harddrives. It's not always a great deal, but most of the time it is worth it.

S/N
- you need a S/N from a WD drive
- you do not need to send in the old drive
- any warrenty on the old drive will be invalidated
- drives w/o any warrenty is valid
- To get the s/n off of a drive in your machine you can use WD's Datalifeguard tools:

YOU DONT NEED TO SEND IT IN... Grab as much serials as you can hahaha

Eh, i guess this is a fairly good deal, but there are plenty of excellent hard drive deals that pop up in hot deals.
Price per gig was more than what I got recently and no s/n hassle.
