Western Digital Hard Drives at OM no more than $120

In the Office Max's where I am they got the following deals:

60 gig HD from 1/6 - 1/12 $60 rebate - comes to $110 After
80 gig HD from 1/13 - 1/19 $80 rebate - comes to $120 After
40 gig HD frmo 1/20 - 1/26 $30 rebate - comes to $100 After

Those prices dont include taxes on the original price.
1 rebate per household...

Then i saw an 80 gig for $160 at BJ's, which matches online prices.

All hard drives mentioned are Western Digital, and are 7200 RPM

I can't find these prices on their site at all, but that's no surprise. If these prices are legit where u live...get a price quote on the 80GB hard drive at $199.99 - 80MIR = 120. Go to best buy and have them price match officemax @120. They are currently offering $50 worth of DVD movies free instantly with the purchase of the drive. Pretty good deal if you can verify the OM pricing.

There have also been reports of OM honoring Staples coupons, a 40 off 200 coupon would make the 80gig a freekin steal.

Is the staples one Mfr or a Staples rebate? b/c if its mfr itll do me no good getting the $80 mfr from OM...if its staples, yes then its a REAL DARN STEAL

i asked the manager and he said it would be "illegal" to post date the receipts because its a mfr rebate. He said if it was an OM rebate he would have no problem post dating the receipts.

So note: the 80gig rebate only runs from 1/13-1/19 (thats Jan 13-19)

I'm saying there have been scattered reports that Office Max will honor Staples coupons on purchases. Your mileage will probably vary on this, since all mamgers will interpret the rules differently. But IF they did honor the Staples coupon, it would really sweeten an already sweet deal.

If its a staples rebate then it will help b/c then office max could honor it.

the rebate circular fro OM has other rebates, its a 30 page job or something...eh i dont feel like counting, but its more than 20 pages...yeah there are rebates on logitec webcams, printers, printer paper, OM giftcards with certain purchases, etc...its a real steal..the only drawback is the date...its a january circular, so the rebates could either run throughout january, or may only last a week...for that 80 gig HD i have to wait another week...blah...and all my computer parts for a computer im building, are coming in this week...so i gots to wait another week to build it, UNLESS that best buy thing works...but if the staples thing works then its worth the wait.

There is no Staples rebate for this item, staples has coupons. i.e. if you spend $200, you get $40 off. or 30 off 150....instantly.


Oh, and FYI...the best buy deal won't work. The rebate starts the 13th. Which is next sunday, when best buy's deal on this drive will currently be over. I'll see if i can't work the system by picking up the drive this week, and then using their 30 day price guarantee once the 13th hits to get my $80 back My guess is that they will have a market reaction throughout the retailers on this drive next week, or they will all have a rebate offered...and we are simply aware of the OM one first.

$199.99 and $50 worth of DVD's. Price match to $120 next week. Not a bad deal. $250 worth of stuff for $120.

i would think it would work...by dont take my work for it...

in theory, since the rebate doesnt end for another 2 weeks (it doesnt start for another week either) and the rebate at BB starts when the one at OM starts you can argue that if they dont offer it, youll take the business to OM...because the rebate at OM will be in tact while the one at BB will be over...so if they want you to buy the 80gig they will drop the price to $120 and then the free $50 DVDs persuasion will make you buy it at BB because JUST dropping it to $120 is making it the same price as at OM, so even at $120 at BB, YOU STILL could go buy it at OM...so the free $50 DVDs would make yuo buy it at BB....that just my take on it...

But the overpriced punks at BB would probably not do that...

They've always done it for me at my local stores. I usually end up talking to a manager, but i've never had a problem getting them to do it. They will pricematch their local competitors. If a competitor is offering a rebate that best buy is inelligable to offer on the same exact product, usually a manager will agree to match the after MIR price. I don't mess with the guys in the blue shirts...they are brainwashed and have no authority. Worse comes to worse if they won't price match, ill go to staples and have them do the pricematch. heck i might even try taking the staples receipt @$120 to best buy just so i can keep the dvd movies. might be too much trouble. but i get bored easily

hehehe the only fun one can i actually get frmo all this computer stuff is buying stuff.
I have a license, but no insurance, b/c i goto school in NYC, so there is no point in getting insurance for 4 months a year while im home.

But if i had a chauffer i would drive around in circles EVERY WEEK to get the best deal...even if i found a tip online, i would go out again and again...not just to save $$$, but 1) to do something fun and 2) to get the feeling you are getting the best possible deal...that "best possible deal" feeling is a GREAT feeling...

Excellent deal still, but last week the 60 gigger was $129 @ BB. I price matched that to office max and tacked on the $25 off 100 coupon that can be seached for @ bensb@rg@ains. Total price was $111.82. Hopefully I can go back and get the receipts redone to include this weeks rebate. I don't have a scan or copy of the bestbuy deal, buy their flyer only said "save $50". No price was given. Perhaps someone has a receipt scan to help other PM this to bestbuy last week.

there is a OM $40 off $225 coupon you can find at @bleshoppers. I'd buy $25 more with the 80GB HD to use that coupon so the $25 extra stuff will be free. coupon

I did something similar. I purchased the WD 60GB at BB.com for store pick up on 1/5. Went to B&M yesterday, picked up for $130 + tax.

Receipt dated 1/6/02 hehe

Went to OM, PM'ed at $130, will now send in for $60 MIR from OM. with tax:$137.80-60MIR=$77.80

BTW, tried this at two different OM's and both allowed pricematch. Neither of them would let me use the coupon also, stating PM or coupon, not both. I tried both OM coupon for internet, & Staples coupon for B&M. Still a good deal. Hopefully, next week someone else will have the 80GB at a good price, so we can do this again.
My local OM is already holding an 80 gigger in lock up for me.

Last time they had this deal, I snagged the 80GB for $200 less $30 off $150 OM web coupon (for which they deducted $50)

good deals...I picked up the 2 of 60 giggers Sat in a PM to BB @ $129.99 ea - $25 coupon. After tax was $111.82. I went back today and got the nicest lady to return/repurchase the drives so they now qualify for the $60 rebate.

$111.82 - $60 rebate= $51.82 ea.

I couldn't beat that with a stick if ya stuck it in a pinata! And to think I was upset at missing the 60 dell deal

I used the $40 off $200 Staples email coupon at my local Officemax in the Phila, PA area to buy the 80 GB. I met little resistance at the checkout except for the manager intervening and muttering something about " I don't know how Officemax can make any money selling it for this price ". The email coupon expired 1-15, but the $80 MIR is good on purchases thru 1-19.
$199.99 - $40 coupon - $80 MIR = $80 Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
