Just one more update: I've heard that there will be a 42" version of this screen at Costco at the end of June for $999 with updated video processing capabilities.

For non-Costco members having this shipped, it is more like $950 (at least it is for me, with state tax). This same monitor has been available at Newegg and Chiefvalue for $999 shipped off & on for several months.

Which means it is still the best deal going, but prices are due to drop soon. 42" 1080p is already at $1200 (Newegg) and dropping, and as noted, $999 within a month at Costco, so this set should be a straight-up $800 by July 4 weekend.

For a computer monitor, the 42" is probably too big, by the way. You will struggle to see at the top of screen. Great for gaming, though.

I jumped on it. Haven't been able to find this online for anywhere near this price for a while now. Just got an apartment and I'm needing a tv as well. I suppose I should have waited for the 42's to drop in a month, but that means a month without a tv. And the 42 might be a bit big for an apartment anyway.

Well if it helps any, it worked out to $960 shipped for me since I'm not a Costco member and they whacked me with NYS tax.

No. My friend is going to visit me in a couple of weeks and I'll just get him to bring it over.

i ordered while i still can, and have three months to decide whether the westy/vizio 42" is any better for the cost. around $900 shipped to cali (costco member). the only thing i hate is that shipping is factored into the cost when costco is two miles away. grrrr....

I still can't decide whether to order or not

If it had a built in HD tuner I would have ordered Friday.

I was wondering about this set. I can get it locally for 100 less, and no shipping charges. Its larger and has a tuners built in. Im on the verge of getting a new set, my HD projection screen is pushing 5 years old. Figure I need to sell it while the picture still sort of dont suck too much. I seen good deals at Tiger for refurbs, too, but Im not too sure I want to risk a refurb LCD in a shipping deal where Im stuck with it.

But it's not 1080p.

I know. But it upscales from 1080i, supposedly. And its bigger. And it has a tuners. And I dont want to upgrade all my DVDs, players, and other stuff yet to do HDdvd. Im more worried about seeing the screen easily across the room, I guess.

I think that all the features added for the trade off of the 1080p mode on the other set might be worth it. Since the other sets only a monitor. Those prices have to be more inflated on the monitors to begin with, they have almost half the electronics inside the case by cutting out all those other features, like speakers and stuff.

All these stupid trade offs between these cheaper brands is why I havent bitten a new LCD TV yet. And I keep hearing the prices will fall further... and Im sure these monitors will be the low cost leaders.

Oh, thanks for those links, Ross. I can spend another few days reading all those posts, lol.

It's your money but I would wait for a deal on the smaller Olevia 537H for $699-ish.

1:1 pixel mapping, built in HD tuner, QAM tuner, etc.

You're welcome

AVSForum is huge and you can easily spend 3+ hours reading those "owners threads". It's easy to get lost over there.

Hoping this sucker ships today. Called the cable company and the guy will be coming enxt Thursday to hook everything up so I'll need the tv. Costco sais allow 7-10 business days for UPS ground though. Pretty sure UPS ground is like 5-7 days on the outside though so maybe they're also including the time it takes for them to package and ship the order.

Well I bit. Anyway a question. I have heard you should make the delivery guy wait when you get Large TVs so you can hook it up quick like to see if it works before you sign for it. Will UPS let you do that? Am I off base? If it wont work I guess you just give it back and sort it out with costco later? The closest one to me is 3.5 hours one way, so making the trip would be a pain. Just wanted peoples advice.

Nope, they won't do that.

You can return it to any local CostCo warehouse but a 3.5 hour drive is pretty damn far.
