i've been playing with my new westy for a few hours now. so far everything has been great. the default settings are really off IMO. going to have to look for some good settings that others have come up with. ps3 played beautifully (hdmi). wii looked horrible (component)! divx movies played ok at best (component), and regular dvd's looked good (ps3/divx player). have not tested any bluray or any sort of cable television and not planning to soon. planning to test the pc through vga though. we'll see when i get my cables. time to visit monoprice.

everything is great, but the real question for me is... is the extra $175 worth it for the upcoming 42" westy? hmmmm....

Will UPS let you do that? Am I off base? If it wont work I guess you just give it back and sort it out with costco later? The closest one to me is 3.5 hours one way, so making the trip would be a pain. Just wanted peoples advice.

on the confirmation email it says:

"If you are unable to return your order at one of our warehouses, please email customerservice@costco.com or call our customer service center at 1-800-955-2292 for assistance. To expedite the processing of your return, please reference your order number"

maybe you can qualify for that? i have no idea what they would do either in terms of reimbursement or anything. worth a shot though.

Well mine shipped last night. Scheduled delivery is next Wednesday. Looks like it's coming from Ontario California. I should have it in time for the cable guy to hook everything up. Sweet!

Got mine last night but it will be a few days before it's up and running.

As far as the 42" goes, remember you have 90 days to return and upgrade...

Question related to this monitor, can anyone suggest a wall mount that sits closer than the "few" inches that most seem to state?

Did Costco ship it inside of another box? Or just the Westinghouse box the lcd comes in? I'm worried it'll get busted during shipping.

amazing price for a w3! best I have seen. I paid $140 more and it was a sale 1 month ago. What I paid was a sale with no tax and no shipping charge so it came out to $940 shipped. I would imagine that this will come out to around the same with tax+shipping. I got mine online. If you miss out on this deal, just check the huge thread at HardOCP in display section. Its always updated.

As a monitor for PC and Xbox360 gaming it has been flat out awesome. If you have the extra cash then run out and get this now

Shipped in Westy Box, but as a plus it's too big for shippers to throw, so all they can really do is drop it.

It appears to be pretty darn secure in the box and have ample air gap. Not to mention you are going to have to sign for it so if it's busted up refuse delivery.

Oh and by the way the box is big, took up all of the cargo area of my expedition (laid flat with 3rd row seats down) as I had to I pick it up from UPS after hours.

Im on the verge of getting a new set, my HD projection screen is pushing 5 years old. Figure I need to sell it while the picture still sort of dont suck too much. I seen good deals at Tiger for refurbs, too, but Im not too sure I want to risk a refurb LCD in a shipping deal where Im stuck with it.

that ones not 1080p. thats why it does not even compete with the westy.

I have a 32" Sceptre from Costco. The power button doesn't always work. I bought it last year before they changed the return policy for TV's. Does that mean I can still return it? If so I'm going to return it and get this Westinghouse.

There's a huge thread on this monitor over at avsforum.com and a bunch of people have posted up pictures showing various content on the lcd. I looked for the ones I saw with it running Battlefield 2 but I couldn't find the post(that thread is 256 pages long!). But anyway here's a link to some dvd content and television content a fellow posted up.

Linky

And here's the link to the thread:
Linky2

From what I saw of the Battlefield 2 pics it looked pretty good. Not as good as it does on my Dell 2405FPW, but decent enough. Now I don't know if the dude had the vid card to support the 1600 x 1200 that Battlefield maxes out at or if he had the settings maxed. Even if he did though, your resolution in Battlefield 2 is limited so it's probably not the best example. Search that thread and see if anybody posted pics up of a game with large widescreen resolutions to get an idea.
It does seem like this is one of the best monitors to buy if you plan on using it for a pc though. All of the reviews I've read say it's excellent for gaming and I plan to use it for that as well as my television. Being that it is a 37inch instead of a 40in or 42in, the 1080 resolution will certainly look a lot better with pc input than the larger monitors, just don't expect the picture to look like your Dell from 3 feet away.

Is there a requirement that this be signed for or they won't drop it off? Our UPS guy usually leaves stuff on the porch if there's no one to sign for it. For small boxes that would be fine, but I big Westinghouse box sitting on the front porch for several hours would be pretty noticeable from the road. I'm hoping there's a requirement that this be signed for or else they won't leave it. I'd much rather go pick it up at their office than run the risk of it being stolen.

I didn't ask for it, so I can only assume that Costco does or maybe they just figure leaving a big lcd on the porch is a bad idea...

Alright, I bit. I couldn't resist after reading all the glowing, slobering reviews over at the forums which are hard.

I love my FW900, but 37" of goodness for 900 shipped is too hard to resist.

Will do.

The way I see it is the FW900 is the wife, and the Westy is my new mistress.

Shhhh!

I know how you felt. I loved my 21" Dell P1110 and so I told myself no LCD's I would get unless I moved up to 24" and beyond. I tried the Dell 24" LCD a few months ago but found it didn't feel much larger overall. It was still very nice however.

Then I read the thread on HardOCP and was floored

a 37" LCD that can serve as a PC monitor and NOT be total crap? I had to get all over this one. Its by far the best monitor I have owned.

I just hooked up an Xbox360 Elite to it via HDMI and that looks flat out amazing as well. Xbox360 gaming looks great sitting a little closer too.

Here is a link to the thread that got me started

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1088497

and a link for those of you interested in calibration if you have a Nvidia card. I am not sure if there is ATI control panel info there as well. With the latest firmware this may not be needed for everybody.
