In my experience, the stand is fine. Monitor can wobble back to front slightly, but nothing like other users make it out to be. I have not noticed any bleeding of the colors, in fact the colors are amazing. I havent watched a movie that is really dark (like batman begins for example) but the blacks have been fine for everything i have watched. Significantly better than my old Samsung 17" TN panel which suffered from bleeding and poor color reproduction.
I watched the opening scene of Transformers HD-DVD via hdmi from my laptop and it was amazing. I have also been watching hdtv via my new pctv hd pro stick and the football games this weekend and other shows broadcast in HD are incredible.
As far as the packaging, it comes in the westinghouse box and thats it. Inside, the monitor is very secure with foam and a plastic cover on the screen. I was a little concerned when I got home and saw the box because there was a gouge in part of the box, but it wasnt nearly deep enough to harm the monitor. Hmm, I cant seem to find a manufacturer date anywhere on the product, packaging or documentation.
Overall this is much better than any TN panel you can get in the same price range. I highly recommend the monitor. You will have to tweak the settings (it ships at 100 brightness, which seems like it will fry your eyeballs), but once that is taken care of, the monitor is amazing. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have.
