Yeah, I know EXACTLY how you feel man. But I was thinking, from the people who reported having no buzzing sounds, do you think they just don't notice it? From what people were saying about the "problem," you'd expect to hear this noticeable, loud buzzing sound when in actuality, it's fairly quiet and drowned out by ambient noises. Just like I was saying with my Soyo - I've read that this monitor has buzzing noise problems too, but the buzzing sound might actually be what I'm hearing when I put my ear right next to it. You should probably ask adiv about it and compare it to the sound you're hearing from your monitor.

Either I'm going deaf (my hearing as far as I know is pristine) or mine isn't buzzing. Not a quiet buzzing, I'm talking I'm sticking my ear right on this thing and don't hear the slightest noise.

Its a very low pitched hum. Not very loud but very noticeable when brightness is lower the 100. I think I found a solution in just messing with the video card contrast and brightness of the monitor but I still don't like the idea of having to have the brightness at 100 to get rid of the buzzing. Other than that its damn perfect compared to my Nec/Mitsubishi CRT which also made a low pitch noise for awhile. Its a very worthy upgrade coming from that CRT but I'm still not sure if I should consider the humming a defect and return it.
Going read up some more to see if there is a solution or something I have to live with if I keep it. I think I can get use to it if I can my case fans. Its not that it bothersome but I would still prefer it not buzzing.
How is the buzzing? Find a solution to it yet?

Is the brightness below 98? I only here it when I go below that.

Still no solution. Many others have the same problem so I don't know if I should just live with it or send it back and risk getting the same thing and other problems. It is otherwise a perfect monitor in view compared to my CRT and other LCDs I have tried.
Guess I will decide by Monday if I should get Newegg a ring or not.

I just setup the Westy monitor and man, this is a beautiful looking monitor. And liquid, I get that buzzing sound too when I go below 98 in brightness. It's a lot louder than I thought it would be and is definitely noticeable. I wouldn't be able to stand that sound if it was audible all the time, but I figure I can mess with the brightness through my graphic card's settings. I JUST set this thing up so I need to see if I run into any other problems.
Update:
I changed the brightness to 60 and at first, it was buzzing, but after leaving at that brightness for a bit, the buzzing went away. So maybe the buzzing happens during the initial change and the monitor gets "used" to the brightness... I don't know. Right now, when I changed the brightness again, the buzzing sound came back on. What I did was went back to 100, the buzzing stopped, then went back down to 50 (where I like it at), turned off the monitor and turned it back on and the buzzing is gone. Maybe you wanna give that a shot liquid and let me know how it goes.

Nope. Buzzing is still there no matter what setting. I may invest in the HDMI-DVI cable to see if that solves the problem but I'm really starting to hate it. Its otherwise a damn perfect monitor but it sucks this got past Q&A. What crazy is that my PC fan is louder but this annoys me more.

at least from reading newegg reviews that seems to be the case.
i just leave my monitor on all the time and let windows power management power it down and that would be annoying if it didnt actually power it down

Haha how hard is it to just push the power button to turn it off? I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to pay anywhere from $100-300 more for that option.

well sometimes i just forget. i wouldnt want to like be checking my mail in the morning forget about it and then go off to my office and have my monitor displaying a static image all day.
theres other monitors that are $300 (like the soyo) that do have a working power save.

Yeah, but the Soyo doesn't have as many inputs as the Westy. Also, the quality control on the Soyo is pretty bad from what I've read and experienced personally. I'd much rather have this Westy for it's inputs, better looks, and better picture (from comparing side by side with Soyo). It's all personal preferences though... I'm just speaking on my behalf.

true that, my friend has the soyo and it is one ugly monitor. he doesnt care, but yeah i wouldnt get it since i am vain like that hahah. plus he had to buy 2 of them to get one that worked right. i know from someone in the industry that soyo is uh, cash wise running on fumes too so i wouldnt count on the warranty lasting all that long

Oh really? Man, that's not good news for Soyo owners then.

yeah well the person i know works at one of their suppliers and i guess they are worried about soyo's ability to actually pay them for components that are on credit.
a lot of smaller manufacturers run into this problem though... soyo is still pretty new, but when huge amounts of monitors get returned especially in retail the losses start to pile up since they lose money on those returned ones or ones that require warranty replacements etc.
quality does acutally pay off inthe long run for the company too. but launching a monitor at a super low price that you cut corners on gets you market share right away.
