William can't be the MIB. As stated before, the head of security interacted with both timelines. Unless he is a host, he would have aged somehow. We know some of the staff are hosts (besides the obvious). When William came, he was interacting with a girl who implied she was a host.

If the security guy is a host, the fact he knew about Bernard's trysts won't be a problem. But, why set up drama unless it's to throw us off?
You mean Stubbs? When was he in the past timeline?

Maybe they do not know each other as hosts. Bernard did not know about himself until Ford allowed it.

And it seemed a little fishy that Stubbs knew about their affair. We already knew Bernard wouldn't remember it, but they went out of their way to emphasize it. Stubbs could have been planted by Ford to watch over him.

Okay so I am caught up to last night and I rewatched a couple of them so it is not really spoiling what is already in plain sight. (Or at least what I am allowed to see. ;-)

  • Episode 6 rocked with the basement scene. The original MiB in the corner and the 'sound score' (is that right description? - the sound effects and music that are playing for effect and is really just heard by us the viewer) was the same sound effect in the WestWorld movie. [cool!]
  • So now I've seen three different WestWorld logos.
  • Last night 'Teddy' killing the horned big guy. A little on the nose there... (read Bullfinch mythology - the old greek name for Teddy is...?)
  • If Ford thinks he is erasing the data, we clearly see the hosts are remembering so memory is being allocated elsewhere in the system. If we think of Arnold and Ford are really (or was) human, then it could be that Ford developed the external and base emotions and Arnold developed the nuances. So it makes sense that Arnold would develop memory development.
Wild-ass theory:
'Arnold' is a fragment of Ford; he never really existed except as a split personality. The picture is of Ford and his Father, not Arnold. Arnold is like Tyler Durden that became alive when the park was about to open. Ford had a nervous breakdown and "killed" Arnold to be the dominate personality.

The only issue I have with this is missing third person in the picture. It's so clearly framed to have three people in it, and since Bernard is a host, he wouldn't see anything that could "hurt" him. This makes me believe that he was made from Arnold.

My prediction -

Arnold was Fords first attempt at giving a host full "humanity", as he has done with Bernard.

I really hope Elsie shows up soon. If she was killed, they wouldn't be so ambiguous about it.
Before Ford wiped Bernard's memory to relieve him of the painful memories, Bernard asked an important question.

"One last thing," he said to Ford. "Have you ever made me hurt anyone like this before?"

"No, Bernard," Ford replied. "Of course not."

But after Ford said this, Bernard seems to have a flashback "memory." We saw Elsie's boots raised above the ground, and her face as she struggled for breath.

Things don't look good.

Well yeah, I watched the episode, but they would have showed her explicitly dying if she was indeed dead. That was my point.

Was the woman that MiB and Teddy picked up from the massacre the same host that helped William get changed/offered services when William first showed up. Face seems similar.

Yes. Angela.

EDIT: feeds into the two timelines theory because MiB says "I thought they retired you, oh well Ford never likes to retire a pretty face"

Also here under the new narrative as "incident" note teddy is under "lure".

Yes. She's the one who greeted William as he got off the train and got him through all the clothing and such just before he departed to Westworld.

So, Dolores is Wyatt maybe? They've been so secretive about revealing the identity I don't see how it could be someone we haven't already met.

So if Maeve and Ford can both pause and reprogram hosts on the fly, does that mean Ford is a host? That could be why he has a secret host production line...so he can age his own body gradually...

Also, I need to go back to some earlier episodes as there is something mighty fishy going on in Cold Storage. What's with the water leaks and flickering lights?? Is that something only Bernard sees when he goes down there??? Things are not what they seem with Cold Storage. If they have incinerators but keep ll the old hosts, could they be doing double duty as a massive server farm? But for what???

The whole Bernard twist makes me question a lot about what we see in scenes involving him. Re-watching is definitely in order.

Some of it kind of fits hinting he was a host from the start, but I'd have to rewatch to confirm. Like, he says hosts talk to themselves to self correct, and he does this at night with Dolores and with his "wife".

Also, the Asian guy from the flashback of Maeve looked similar to the one helper her now. Human loop? Maybe he's trying to help her this time when he didn't before?

I think the maze is meant as a symbol. That it's in their heads. Reaching the center is the host having true feelings like the MiB described in the most recent episode. Arnold wanted to give them true consciousness and the maze is how they "unlock" it.

Maybe the maze is the defragmentation and full consciousness.

And, thinking about how Bernard was told his mind was needed to help build the place, maybe Arnold is him / his mind. Perhaps, Arnold was created to create and had to be "killed" to be kept out of the hands of the board and such. Perhaps, that is their sabotage attempt and why deleting the IP is such a high threat. Arnold is the AI they know still lives deep in the code, but they can't simply take it.

I don't know... with the way Ford was talking to Bernard in the hidden lab, it seemed like Ford had to kill Arnold. I can't remember the exact wording, but it was something like "I wouldn't let him take it away from me." The mythos suggests that Arnold didn't like the nature of the park anymore, and wanted the robots to be "free" (from their controlled loops, to have a "true" consciousness). Ford doesn't want that. He's the tinkerer type and wants to keep playing with his toys.

With only 2 episodes left, I'm really starting to think that Arnold isn't real.
