yeah, delores turning vigilante didnt sit well with me.
also didn't like that a host had the ability to become a superuser and control all the other non-sentient hosts.

but I did like the plot twist of Bernard being a host.
human Bernard created delores. Delores kills human Bernard before Westworld was fully operational.
She then raises host Bernard who has no clue that he's a host till decades later (season2). host bernard programed all the other hosts. full circle.

Hope Anthony Hopkins is in season 3.
wished Amazon would allow us to binge it like Netflix

Most fans seem to think season 1 was awesome and 2 was a big letdown.

in the opening cinematic, the eagle flying behind that jet engine reminded me of American Gods

Episode 5:
very creative in setting the music for most of the episode.

but the car chase scene was STUPID.

- ride share vehicles of the future are bullet proof to futuristic bullets?!
- She can order a backpack of firepower but no body armor?!
- Yakuza have auto-aiming guns. the mercs working for the richest man in the world doesnt?!
- This is a Star Wars scene. Mercs become storm troopers when shooting at the stars of the show.
- her backpack is full of self propelled missiles. Why does she only use 1 then switch to guns to stop the other car?!

Question from Episode 3:
If that person is inside Charlotte Hale's body, then why is she acting like an emo teenager and cutting herself when things dont go right?
There's nothing from the previous seasons that shows that person cracks under pressure.

7 had some decent action in it, but I agree, too many things don't add up I think.

eps 8 (season Finale)

omg.. so sloppily written.
1) Dolores had a spare body and a cache of weapons hidden in a warehouse but no bulletproof vests?
the street mercs she hired also didnt have any body armor.
WTF?

2) the fight between Dolores and the riot police on top of the overpass was stupid, pointless, and unbelievable.
it could have been written out to get on with the fight with Mauve.

3) How did Delores gain access to the police drone to fly Celeb past the barricades and to Incite's HQ?

4) Serac had a gun to Celeb's head.
Why didnt he shoot him? He's killed before in previous episodes.
instead, he tells his men to shoot him. and of course Caleb gets out of it.
that whole scene seemed amateurishly directly.

5) How the hell did Serac lose control of the super computer?
the explanation that was given made no sense!!!

Yeah, I noticed that season 2 wasn't as good as season 1. It kinda makes sense that it could continue to slide downhill a bit.

Comcast had a "Watchathon" special this weekend with free HBO and some Hulu shows. I finally get a chance to see season 3 of Westworld. I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for it, because it was kinda meh.

Just got around to watching it. I don't think I'll bother to watch season 4. It's not worth the time anymore. Too much dues ex machina. Characters act out of character just so the story can continue and other main characters don't have to die. If emp was so great at stopping hosts why send soldiers after them? In any of the seasons? The characters get super weapons that hit anything while the tired cliche of random badguys who can't hit shit are everywhere. Delores/Mauve are dead! Wait no they're alive. But now they're dead again! Wait no not this time either. Oh wow they're super dead now! Wait no no they're not. You can get away with it if you own it like Edge of tomorrow. This was just an attempt at cheap drama.

Season 2 was so absurdly bad that I give precisely zero dicks about this show.

...I think the problem is that they tried to turn a tight short story/novella into a drawn-out, episodic nightmare of storylines that just go too far beyond the honest scope of the material (like when Game of Thrones had to start diverging from the source to wrap things up--what a cluster)

Something tells me that Westworld costs a small fortune to produce because of all futuristic props that they have to build or simulate. They wouldn't make much of a profit if they did a new season every year, but if they can string people along JUST long enough to prevent them from canceling their HBO subscriptions...

Big sci fi epics take a long time to shoot and edit.

Think about it: Terminator 2 is only 140 minutes and it took a year and a half to produce.

well, they were still editing on film them, which doesn't take nearly as much time now, as everything is done digitally. ...conversely, so much in these types of films requires thousands of digital artists to turn everything that was shot into cartoons, and that now takes tons of time.

T2, at the time, didn't really have a comparable amount of effects. Pretty much real explosions and then one character that represented the majority of the digital effects. Now, all of the sets, the backgrounds, the explosions, the particles...often the characters...all digital. It's ridiculous, really.

I'm thinking that Mad Max Fury Road will be the last action movie that was ever made. (which was already an anomaly for its time)
