So I just read the full article from the OP, and I feel I should point something out:

This writer is like the Hemingway of clogged shitters. Seriously. In a world of barely-literate journalism, this guy is not just grammatically correct (which is itself a feat); he's a goddamned literary virtuoso. Kudos to you, poop-story-guy.

The flushable wipes that I've seen are pretty flimsy. Clearly, they're stronger than toilet paper, but they're a far cry from wipes such as Wet Ones and baby wipes.

I'm not totally convinced that they know for certain that the problems are being caused by wipes that are marketed as flushable. It's easy to imagine that quite a few people just don't give a damn and are flushing non-flushable wipes.
When they scope the lines it's pretty clear what is doing it.

People need to quit being so worthless and learn how to wipe their ass. It's no wonder they find fecal matter all over peoples cell phones and whatever else, people can't even do basic tasks anymore unless their gadget or consumer product does it for them.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is I'm skeptical that they actually know that the wipes that are clogging up the system are primarily those marketed as flushable.

They have probably done their own tests.. it's not hard to do, put 1 sheet of TP in a glass of water and agitate the water, if you are not using that shit brand Charmin you will notice that it doesn't take long or much and it breaks down into particles in no time.

Do that exact test with any of these wipes and they do not do that, they stay in their sheet form and just wad up. They are already wet and maintain their form when you use them, they simply are not meant to break down. The small particles is what keeps sewer lines flowing.

It's not about tests. It's about analysis. Pull a few hundred pounds of shit and grease-covered blockage out of the system and analyze each individual piece to determine the brand and the product. If anyone actually did that, I bet they find that the vast majority is stuff that was never designed or marketed to be flushable.

If you check the article, they know what brand wipes it is. The article mentions a cloud, which is the logo on a certain brand of "flushable" wipes.

If it's White Cloud, they also make non-flushable wipes.

All that fecal matter is from people not washing their hands. Do you touch the same door handle when you leave the bathroom that they touched?

I just toss mine into the shower when i'm done. That way when I take a shower, they get rinsed off and I can reuse them.

Because NYers are douchebags.

I want to blame people who moved here from another state/country, but it's the natives. My friends preach the wipes. And, without knowing about this problem, I gave them a WTF look and asked how did they forget to use toilet paper.

My friends are also fat and have terrible diets. Which explains why they need the wipes - the slop they eat oozes out of their ass and with the lack of fiber (from improper eating), they need to use the wipes to root out the remaining bag for fun sized Snickers they had for dinner last night.

I had no idea. We started using those Cottonelle wipes in our household about five years ago. Now we're hooked on them (same thing with hand sanitizer - once you get in the habit its impossible to break).

Making our assholes delicious.

Your mom appreciates it even if you don't.

Edit: We probably should switch to bidets like the yerpians use, but having a conversation with Americans about anything between your knees and your belly button is pretty much futile.

And if you even hint that the US way of doing something isn't the best way in the history of the Universe, be prepared for a barrage of anything from simple derision to chest-thumping death threats.

It just brought to mind the history of toilet paper. No one wanted to sell it because they didn't want to be first-to-market with "that" kind of a product. Then the ones who did eventually sell it had to come up with an obscure name for it to avoid offending fragile sensibilities.

https://www.myptsd.com/c/threads/bum-wiping-wet-ones-aka-moist-towelettes.17308/

What was really funny... Will Smith was over here for something and they had him on the radio and bum wiping came up! Low and behold, the man is also a huge fan of using wet ones to finish of the wipe, leaving the bum nice and clean.

I was totally agreeing with the statement he made to challenge Kyle, a radio presenter here about it, which said, "You can wipe your bum 5, 10, 15 or 20 times with toilet paper... then, take out a moist towelette and wipe it, and I guarantee you'll be disgusted with yourself on how dirty your bum has been your entire life."

It's simpler than that.

People have always flushed paper towels, rags, tampons, and other things that clog pipes and get tangled in pumps. Once these were introduced into the market as flushable wipes, these problems increased.

It's so bad that the industry is trying to design affordable pumps that can shred these things.
