What 144hz monitor should I get?

I'm currently looking at purchasing a 144hz monitor for CS:GO. I live in the US, and my budget is ~$300, although I'd prefer to pay closer to $250 if possible. I'd prefer to purchase from newegg or amazon, but if another reputable site has a great deal I'm willing to purchase from other merchants.

I'm thinking that a 24" 1080p is about the best I can do at the moment. Since I need it primarily for counterstrike, I'm not particularly interested in freesync or g-sync since I need to have >144fps at all times anyway. Plus, I don't really notice tearing in any of my games, at least for the most part.

The main two monitors I have my eye on are the Benq XL2411z and the Asus VG248QE. Currently, I can get the Asus for $265 at Amazon, while the Benq is around $310 from newegg.

Is the Benq worth $50 more? Is there a particular reason I should not consider one or both of these monitors? Are there any other monitors I should be looking at? Also, do I ideally want to use displayport for connect the monitor and my PC?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If needed, my current specs are:
i5 3570k @ 4.4 Ghz
HD 7950 @ 1000 Mhz core
8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
AsRock Z77 Extreme3
Corsair TX650 650w PSU

Also the Aoc G2460Pqu is good, it's similiar to the VG248QE, but it isn't compatible with g-sync module. If I were you, I would buy the Asus one, but they are pretty the same thing

Sorry for my bad english.

I've discovered I can get the Benq for $15 more than the Asus ($280) on their site. My friend has the Asus and has claimed he's had multi monitor issues with his 7870. So I'm currently leaning towards the Benq... although is multi monitor a widespread issue?

Also, are there any good reviews comparing the two? I found a review on toms comparing the Asus and the 2720z, but the 2411z could be better or worse than the 2720z aside from features and screen size.

The Asus looks good in 144hz mode.

If you plan to use Lightboost or strobing, the colors are really washed out.

I has the VG248QE, loves the VG248QE.

I don't think it can be beat until 4K 120Hz/144Hz is $300 or lower.

I just wish it was 1920x1200, loves me the 16:10 ratio.

VG248QE is basically the same as XL2411T which has been already replaced by XL2411Z. XL2411Z has inbuilt blur reduction and low blue light modes for reduced eye strain... I havne't personally tested those features but I'd much rather get an XL2411Z than the older Asus

Another good thing of the Asus is that it's g-sync compatible.

nononononononono it's not. it's compatible if you buy a $300 adapter that is no longer in stock and you void your warranty when you install it yourself

Lightboost/Ultra Low Motion Blur at 120hz is infinitely better than 144hz btw

I knew about the big price of the module lol, but I thought the warranty wasn't voided if the mod would have been only the module.
Sorry for my crappy english xD

Another good thing of the Asus is that it's g-sync compatible.

BenQ XL2420G comes with inbuilt GSync module for a total of $540 - not even remotely worth it, but better than VG248QE with the GSync module, even if you could still buy the module.

Also the Aoc G2460G cones with g-sync , if I'm not wrong. It seems so good.

I have this display, and well...

Refresh and response times are great.

However...

The display itself is HORRIBLE. I am SOOO disappointed with it, but kind of stuck with it. It gets really washed out as you up the refresh rate, which is to be expected, and I am ok with this.

But the color accuracy is terrible, and text can be hard to read at times. It has a pixelated look to it. Especially when sitting next to my ViewSonic IPS. There are custom color profiles out there that make it better, but I would still consider this one of the worst looking screens I have ever used.

I picked up the VG248QE for my new build and I gotta say I'm not impressed either. I've screwed with the settings to no end and just can't get it to look right in both games and web browsing. Custom color profiles haven't done a thing for me, I ended up reverting back to Windows default settings. Seems the whites are always too bright and the darks too dark. Doesn't help any that the monitor doesn't have gamma setting in OSD. Also the viewing angle is just TERRIBLE. If someone could convince me to keep it I might, but as far as I'm concerned I'll be looking for another 144Hz LCD. Really disappointing after reading all the rave reviews about it.

I have the same panel in XL2411T and it works fine for me. Calibrating the monitor with this guide helped, maybe you'll find it useful: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

I have the VG248QE. Straight from the box the colors are definitely off, more so than I have seen with most monitors. But once you spend some time calibrating it it looks pretty damn good. I love mine now and it has been a great upgrade for gaming.

I just posted this in another similar thread, but it works here as well:

"If it means anything, I upgraded my finely calibrated FW900 (regarded as the best CRT monitor ever made) to a finely calibrated ASUS VG248QE (144Hz). I went from 1200p@96Hz to 1080p@144Hz and it has been wonderful. The ASUS can't match the Sony for black levels, but not much can.

My only regret is that it is not G-Sync. Get a 144Hz G-Sync display."

In my opinion, PC displays are kind of in the same place 4K TVs were last year. With no 'official' HDMI 2.0 or HDCP specs last year, it was a gamble getting a 4K TV. This year, there are HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.3 specs that may or may not be on the models, and we also have GSYNC and Freesync specs that don't appear on the same displays (at least from what I have seen).

I feel like it is a good option to grab a cheaper 144hz or LB/ULM panel and know you probably will want to upgrade next year when these competing standards sort themselves out....

From my perspective, I don't like getting locked into any vendor, red or green.

I ended up getting a 27" Dell P2714H (PLS @ 1920x1080, 60 Hz) to replace my defective 30" (IPS @ 2560x1600, 60 Hz). I couldn't justify getting a 144Hz TN panel given the 27" variants were about 50% more than the Dell.

It's a very good monitor and I'm really happy with it. I might put up a review of it later.
