Whatever you decide to buy,
DON'T GET XFX OR PNY!!!

That's what I always say. Get an EVGA and get a FREE SLI MOTHERBOARD TOO!!! Or get BFG. Asus overcharges, that extreme one is simply a 7800GTX with an Arctic Cooler on it.

I agree. XFX is junk. PNY has gotten that way too.

If I had the dough to get one, I'd either pick one from EVGA or BFG. LeadTek is good as well, but IMO, its 3rd to EVGA and BFG (with BFG as my personal number 1) .

Their all basically the same (1-3 frames difference in any game), if you dont have BF2, get the EVGA ones if you can still find one with that package, the KO edition is pritty much the fastest card out, but also the most expensive.

XFX is fine.
Runs fast and fairly cool, has a Double Lifetime warranty, has their own Forum, and has very good customer support.

Listen to someone who actually uses one, and has used their support before also. Just go with whichever one is cheapest.

My order would be eVGA, XFX, Leadtek. If you search around, you'll see that BFG had many, many more problems with the 68 series cards than eVGA and XFX combined.

I'd steer clear of BFG.... I had to return 2 brand new 6800GTs that didn't work out of the box... Took like a month to get a working one.... Yeah, they have 24hr. customer service but their reps couldn't care less about the customer and they won't go out of their way for you....

Buy whatever is cheapest and available.... the XFX looks good.

I have an MSI.. I like it.. If I were to get another, I'd get the eVGA KO.. with the big square cooler.. it's nifty..

surely thats a one off case?

from what ive heard BFG make some of the best. but i guess someones got to have a bad experience... no company is perfect

anyway OP, yeah i dont think XFX are actually that bad, but id still choose from BFG, LEADTEK, ASUS and the like before puttin money down on something from them

also if you read around in reviews.....overclocking the G70 is a bit more complicated than were used too

the card has little plataues (sp?) where incremental increase will yield nothing, than all of a sudden it will step up to a new performance level

for example 450 and 460mhz would perform within error of each other....but then 462Mhz would perform signifcantly (in relation) better

XFX and PNY are great. they make fine boards and have gotten great reviews.

i would get a 7800GTX that offers the best performance at a good price. don't overpay. find one that is factory overclocked and has design

BFG, evga, XFX, MSI, Asus, PNY, Leadtek all make fine boards

eVGA or MSI for sure

I've nary a problem with either of those brands.

MSI boards are sometimes problematic, but their videocards have always been good to me. As with eVGA.

No, definitley not a unique case.

That link show where Monarch actually stopped selling the BFG 6800GT's because they were getting raped on RMA's.
They try to act like it's not a big deal, but how often do you see companies stop selling a high-demand item just because they had a few bad ones returned. Uhh, never.

The fact is that BFG had some serious issues with those cards, but you didn't read much about it because for some reason I do not understand, most people on this board seem to hold BFG in an almost religious like status. "Don't bad mouth BFG or you'll get punished by God", or some BS like that.

eVGA rocks. I have nothing but praise for them. You will notice a difference between the 450 and 490(KO) versions but either of them will drive a high resolution monitor quite adequately.

If you plan on using your graphics card for the rest of your lifetime, go with one of those three.

For everyone else, LeadTek always has been, and always will be the best choice.
