My wife works for a very large retailer. They dont have a FT security person. Their policy for employees is...they cant call 911, and they cant stop people from leaving the store with arm (or cart!) fulls of merch. She said people will literally pull a car up to the front of the store, and someone will walk out with a cart full of merch, load up the car, and drive away.

Customers, however, can and have called 911. CRAZY.

In NYC the garbage cans are literally bolted to the damn sidewalk because they'll be stolen instantly if they're not.

ANYTHING with cash-value that's protected only by "air and opportunity" will sooner or later be taken by someone in 2022 'murica. (the bestest cuntry on erth!1!!)

The system basically allows for anarchy when it comes to small value items.
