What about Lineage 2?

Hey people,

I was looking thru the forum and I noticed there was nothing here about good (old) Lineage 2 ... and i thought that is just terrible .

I play this game (almost) from the beginning (11 years already) and still I enjoy it very much. There is so much to do, quests, crafting, cooperating and battling with other people and clans. But the most important thing is the meeting with other people from all over the world. When you spend a lot of free time together you need good people around you.

And I have a good place for you to achieve that. If anybody is interested in playing Lineage 2 I invite him or her to come and join me at **REMOVED**. It's a private server running the Freya Chronicle (if you want just check Wikipedia for L2 story) with a friendly community ready to welcome all new players and make them wanna stay.

Further to post #7 below, I have read through the terms of service and private servers for this game are most assuredly against NC Soft's and Lineage II's terms of service.

Unless you can provide something saying you have their permission to run this server, this thread will remain closed and all mentions of this server will be removed.

You are welcome to participate in the forum and discuss this game and the legal methods with which it can be played, but any other mentions of these types of servers will be removed and infractions will then be issued.

Great game but not the place to advertise private illegal servers.

One of the best MMO's ever. The way the game is designed (intentionally or not) really encourages PVP as well which was great.
Then WoW came along and we got instances and from there it's all down hill.

How do you come to the notion the server is illegal? NCSoft allows private servers as long they are not getting paid by the players to be able to play. Here we do not have to pay at all. There is a donation system, but you do not have to donate for anything, coz u can get it from normal game play too.

And I must say, I advertise the server I play on, coz L2 doesn't exist without a server ... there is no sense setting it up on your own computer, is there? It's all about the people, the more the merrier.

As third argument ... at the forum I didn't find topics about this great PC GAME. And we are at a PC GAME forum, right?

Therefore I really think I am not abusing any rules and am at the right spot. If not please advise.

You don't see many people talk about lineage 2 for the same reason most here don't talk about runescape. It is f2p and out dated.

I threw alot of my time and life into the game. Super fun if it's a good private server, however the server community got so fractured. I myself prefer Tauti, or Post-GoD servers.

It's really tough to play competitively unless you have alot of time, and join a really good group/clan.

The pvp is outstanding, but like someone said... it's outdated.

The PVP is "outdated" but I don't think new PVP is really better than what Lineage 2 implemented.
Chronicle 3 and 4 were the pinnacle of play for me with L2PVPX being my FAVORITE server of all time. When Lineage 2 started this whole elemental business it annoyed me to no end.

The issue now is as you said, Server Community is too fractured and there I can never seem to find a server with a balance between stability, good clan competition, economy reworked (so that it encourages PVP. Something PVPx did an outstanding job with), etc.

Really though I can't think of a modern MMO that encouraged me to PVP the way Lineage 2 did. There were MULTIPLE times where we had to PVP for hours for either
A) Farming Spot
I knew just about every trick to farming in this game so I generally was on my farm class but that didn't mean I could just sit back and farm ever. No, I had an armed escort because in Lineage 2 (decently run servers), you couldn't just sit and farm anywhere. No, the server was set up so that the supply and demand of areas encouraged PVP.
B) Raids
This is essentially the reason I won't play WoW. Instances are a joke. I remember sitting at Ant Queen waiting for it to spawn, then proceeding to fight THE WHOLE SERVER as they had gotten fed up with my clan's complete control of raidbosses. A pact between every clan on the server was formed to stop us and this fight was epic. Mass TPs in, Mass revivals, formations, tactics, it was an all out hours long war. Due to the fact you needed level 40 characters to actually get the drops anyway, it made having guards CRUCIAL since a max geared/leveld char can basically 1 shot a level 40 anyway. God raids were a BLAST in this game.
C) Hate
Due to the first 2, there was ALWAYS resentment. Clans waged war not only on the server but on forums as well. There was so much hate and it just fueled PVP that much more.

But later adjustments (like being able to get skill enchantments on weapons), just kind of broke the gameplay. We had Bishops that were just not only unkillable, but could wreck whole parties due to getting that spamnuke skill.

But god, I miss Lineage 2's PVP. MMOs cater to PVE way too much now and believe that PVP should be in an "arena". Talk about a joke, I don't want to PVP for the sake of PVPing, I want to PVP for an objective. I can't tell you the countless people I killed in that game because "This farm spot belongs to my clan", or simply because of a long standing vendetta.

MMOs are just meh now.

Edit: As for time spent playing this game? I don't understand how I had a girlfriend when I played this game... still baffles me, I don't think I slept more than 4 hours a day probably lol. Even when I was sleeping I still got calls from clan members for Raids, waking up at 2-4 AM to bang out a raid real quick and go back to sleep, or just setup a multi client of archers to help your clan kill a raid before going back to sleep... This game was serious business lol.

You acknowledge that: (i) Your license to use any Character ID, to select any Team, Account ID, NCSOFT Message Board ID, Character ID and/or Team designation, to select characteristics related to a Character ID, or to provide any communication or information on any Message Board, shall be within the sole and absolute discretion of NCSOFT; (ii) that the foregoing may be modified for any reason, at any time, and in any way by NCSOFT in its sole and absolute discretion; and (iii) that the foregoing are under license, not sold, by NCSOFT. (iv) sell, sub-license, rent, lease, grant a security interest in, borrow, lend, loan, network or engage in any activity that could in any way transfer or provide others access to any Service, Content, Software, or parts thereof, including but not limited to any serial code number, access key or the like.

From what I can tell they are still running their own servers so no idea why they would allow this.
