When could we expect seeing some benchmarks? I think a sub 200 $ DirectX 8 part could be quite interesting and if it performs at about 80% of gf4 ti4200 I'd get one just for
the sake of spending money on a new market player

edit: fixed the link

silverback...WRONG.

depends on what model u're talking about anyway...they're several Xabre models targeted at different market segments.

the fastest part will definitely beat all the GF4 MX cards, according to some previews i've seen...i think ocworkbench has one...and i can't remember where i saw the other one..digit-life actually, i think

Would that mean better _and_ cheaper? I wonder how it compares to a geforce3 in terms of opengl application (not games) performance..

You do realise this card is being aimed at the average joe consumer and not professional app users, yeah?
If this card has ~10% Ti4200 performance with good 2D and multi display support + half decent drivers (not that nVidia's are anything to shout about at the moment as ive found plenty of bugs thus far ) im ready to do the "buy me" deed
With the state of the current drivers with NV in that their NView is riddled with problems i would quite happily choose any current card with half decent (dont have to be stellar) drivers.

Come on little guys, give them big players something to think about

It would be real nice if us guys would support this new venture for Sis going into the market sector theyre aiming at by actually buying the cards.
If we dont were just setting ourselves up to be lemmings for the big boys which is not good for competition and our wallets.
Notice how ATI and NV pricematch and not price undercut - we need more playersin mainstream.

yeah, that's why I wondered. it it's not too bad I might be out for one, else I'll have to go with a gf3 or gf4 ti 4200. but then, I'll probably have to wait till fall anyway..

<< Since when has SiS become the 'leading core logic ... supplier', let alone 'graphics chip'? Have they already beaten VIA? I'm sure VIA is the #1 core logic supplier, not SiS! VIA has 60%+ of the chipset market! Or have the things changed dramatically? >>

WHAT??!!!?

as far as i know, VIA has far less than 60%+ of the market share...that's more like Intel....don't be fooled, Intel owns a huge chunk of the chipset market still, i believe...

VIA can't give away it's P4 chipset....

anyway, SIS does supply graphics chipsets - i.e. 305, 315 - but it surely isn't leading...it might be considered a leading chipset supplier when it comes to P4 chipset however...i think every top tier mobo manufacturer has a SIS based 645, 650 or 645DX based mobo.

<< TTaipei, April 24, 2002-Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics chip supplier, today unveiled its brand-new graphics chip - the Xabre400. The world's first AGP8X graphics chip and the only one of its class that supports 8x8 (AGP8X and DirectX8.1) functions will no doubt become the new standard for the mainstream market. >>

There's a big difference between "a leading supplier" and "the leading supplier"
