"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio."

But... I'm from the South

It says I have a Philadelphia accent. I live an hour out of Philly.

After seeing the questions and possible answers, I'm wondering where the hell other people learned how to talk. Pin and pen sound alike? Bag and vague? Feel and fill?

I think the most recognizable part of the Philly/New Jersey accent is how we pronounce words like horrible, Florida, forrest, orange - hah-rible, flah-rida, fah-rest, ah-range

This quiz sucks. There is nowhere near enough questions to accurately characterize most people. Besides the fact that it got me completely wrong, the answer that I should have got...

is malarky. Anyone who has been to Pennsylvania or Southern Ohio would know that those people speak nothing like the midland "no accent" states. It is as different as a New York, Boston, or Southern accent is.

And where the hell is the most obvious question...Soda or Pop?!?!

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

Dead on - Minnesotan my whole life

I have lived in Souther California my entire life which doesn't agree, but I don't have much of an accent so I agree with that statement...

Your Result: Boston

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

Well I have lived here for 8 years so I guess I picked up a little of the accent.. but I definitely don't replace r's with a's at the end of words.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?"

Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Chances are they are wrong on that one!

"Soda" sounds like something you'd mix in a chemistry experiment.

We call it cola.
