I have a Canadian French influenced accent, but without sounding like a true Francophone.

that was dead on, i lived in michigan till i was 8. I then moved to alabama, but i made it a point not to change my speaking habits.

Same exact results here!!! left Mi. when I was 11 but haven't changed my accent one bit.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I'm from southern Mississippi. I used to be on the radio.

Same. From Northern VA (Farifax County)

You're on the radio in Fairfax county? What station maybe I can find you no the dial...

Your Result: The Midland

Interesting.... I came up "Inland North', but I was born and raised in West Central Florida. I try very hard to speak correctly but I know my background trips me up!
I think the fact that I grew up in a Latin family has a lot to do with it. I say "wash" instead of "watch" sometimes, and vice versa.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California.

But then there's those wierdos in Minnesota that say "duck duck grey duck" instead of "duck duck goose".

Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

And I'm in WI so I guess it's right. But I don't call it Pop, it's soda. And I drink from a Bubbler!

That quiz doesn't make sense, why is Boston so far away from the Northeast?

Boston is PART of the Northeast.

Your Result: The South

That's a Southern accent you've got there. You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don't have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.

born and (mostly) raised in Southwest Louisiana...

Another Boston, lived here all my life. Not nearly as heavy as the stereotype, though. Based on previous posts it sounds like this quiz is pretty good at spotting our accent correctly anyway.

Midland. I'm from Allentown.

I guess they don't include Pennsylvania Dutch in there. I think I might have a little Dutchiness in my vocabulary.

Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

That's pretty funny cause that's where I've lived until I was 6. I don't really think I have much of an accent anymore though. I definitely notice my family's accent when I go to visit them.

I'm from New Jersey. I've always been from New Jersey and I don't say "pop." I say "soda." Yes, those words are supposed to sound different.

Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

I have lived in California my whole life, so, the test nailed it.

I've lived in the Los Angeles area my entire life, as did both of my parents, and it says I have a Boston accent? Wtf? I've met a number of people from Boston and I sound nothing like they do.

Bastard quiz called it right. I have always guaged whether someone has an accent or not by how they sing. When people sing, the generally lose their accents. IMO, folks from the upper mid west speak just like people sing, without accents.
